DO I like to Rock -n - Roll you ask? I was BORN to rock!!
I formed a cover band that played anything from Motley Crue to Metallica
when i was teenager. I then, later on,I formed a rock/metal band that played original music.
We were a professional regional act. We played EVERYWHERE!!..From L.A. to FT. Lauderdale, Florida. We released three CD's with better than avaerage success.
So yeah...I would have to say I like to Rock -n-Roll!! LOL!!!
As for others not liking rock? Well..I believe everyone has a right to their own opinion and I can respect that.
However, in my opinion, if your going to truely appreciate ONE genre of music to the fullest, you have to be able to appreciate ALL music in ALL of its many forms.
For example, I'm a rock/metal head first and foremost!! But, I also like mainstream, some hip-hop,cassical, a little bit of everything actually. Granted, there are some forms I'm not into..like country. I can write it, and write it good!! Then again, I can write prety much all types of music.
In the band I wrote the music and played lead guitar.
I'm not very big on counrry, but I respect it and the artists for being great at what tbey do..and there a few artist in that genre that I do actually like!!
My point though is that to appreciate your personal choice, you must have something for comparison. And have a mutual respect for ALL forms of music .

People have changed and so has the music. So I don't blame your grandparents for considering this particular genre noisy. The music they might have listened in their time and age might have been radical or noisy for their grandparents. So the transition for them might be too sudden that they fail to appreciate rock-n-roll. Try making them listen to Jazz or country. Maybe that will change their mind. Cause I believe that there is a slight hint of rock-n-roll in Jazz, and Country music too.

The definition of Rock n Roll seems to have become diluted, I've always seen it as a term to describe the music of the 50's. Artists like Elvis, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly etc But it's now used to describe such a wide variation of music so the music of most eras will appear load to older people, as it tends to be a lot heavier than the era they grew up in

I love rock And roll. I got my rock n roll heart when I was 13 and it is still going strong. From soft rock all the way to metal I love it all.

I do love to listen to rock in roll when I was in high school. I was a member of the band so I love listening to music. But as I have grown older, my choice of music has also changed. I like classical music, instrumental music as well as opera. Though this does not mean I do not listen to rock in roll anymore. I still do, but not as often as when I was in high school.

Oh I love Rock and Rock n Roll. I'm always listening to songs by Bryan Adams, Green Day, Nickelback. although some songs have high notes and loud noises, most of the song are pretty normal enough. I listen to them most of the time and I love them.

Good day, rocketsky. Well, I like rock music especially the heavy metal type. Others consider it only as noise but for me, it is the best because of the instrumentals are very nice and when the artist growls in metal music. I hope I can growl too. And in adlib, when the guitarist do tapping and sweeping, that was great because their fingers are fast in "breaking the neck". This is my response, happy mylotting..=)

The Beatles may be considered the first rock and roll band, and still continues to educate many musicians today. Sadly, most grandparents and parents don't have an appreciation of rock music. Just reveals the amount of education gotten. Let's try understand them. Peace!

Hello rocketsky! Yes, I grew up on rock'n'roll! Both of my sisters were teen-agers of the '50s and I grew up listening to Elvis. I also liked The Beatles and other artists of the '50s, '60s, and '70s. You might think I'm crazy but one group that I really liked back in the '60s was The Doors. As a matter of fact, when I first joined mylot, I started some discussions on Jim Morrison. I mostly listen to country music these days. I'm into what they call new country. The country music these days is not anything like what it used to be, if you know what I mean. It's more like the rock music of the '70s.
I'm also a musician, myself. I sing, play the guitar, piano, and harmonica. I sing all different kinds of music but I'm mainly into country music and the older rock'n'roll.
I also like Neil Young and some southern rock music, like Lynrd Skynrd, The Marshall Tucker Band, etc. Keep on rocking!!! Kathy.
