When is it ideal to choose 'best response'?

When do you choose them? Is there any rule that sets the limit? I really don't know. I have started many discussions and i have not selected any best response yet.
How often do you select it? Do you just select, say, after 10 responses. Or do you wait for a specific time like one day or a week? How does one do it? In fact I have responded to some discussions yesterday and neither have they selected one nor I have received one, so i assume that it's more than two days. What is your idea?

I really appreciate your method. Even I think it's right. Anyway I hope you stick to the policy and Even I am gonna do it. I can't bear my mylotters trying get the best response and waiting for getting approved and get 'cheated'.
I enjoyed your response.

Good day, ebook_freak! Well, it depends on the user who started a discussion to select the best response. When the response that you had received got your full attention because it is very informative and interesting, mark it as best response. Or if your discussion was in form of a question and a particular response contains the whole thought of the answer, just mark it also. But sometimes, I do not mark best response because many of them seems the best. This is my response, happy mylotting...=)

Hehe, thanks for the comment. Well, I don't know if it is against the rules but you have a point there.

I really like your smiley. Strange one....
Any way please tell me if it's against the guidelines if we donot select a best response. Anyway the users who really worked hard to earn a best response will get cheated right?
Whats your opinion?

Yes. I think one week would be fine. But if it's close to a weekend then only 3 or 4 days should be enough I guess. You might get more responses.

Oh i really didn't expect you back. People rarely come back to give back help if i ask it. So you are not that type and i really acknowledge my pleasure in helping me out.
Happy mylotting.
And I'll try to follow the instruction.

I think the best time to choose a best response is after the discussion has been online for some days or after it has a respectable number of responses. I have seen discussions which are new with best response already allotted. This is bad because most people do not respond if the person gives out the best response so early without even waiting for other person's views.

Oh so it's like how i thought. I always had a creeping feeling that I was delaying the time period. Anyway I feel assured now. But let me wait for some more responses before i jump into a decision.
I really appreciate your effort to help me. And according to you what is the respectable number of days? Will one week do?
