The big sony sticker on the bottom of my laptop says PCG-8z2m for model but my system information says my model is VGN- Ar5ij also my serial number never seems to work.... this caused me a lot of greif with finding my drives because I was looking for a model PCG which is non existing...is the sticker wrong or is it me?

There is always a chance that the sticker is wrong but I have had a computer since 1986 and have never really seen one that was wrong.
When searching for drivers you do not always need the model number on that sticker sometimes the model name is all that you need. I know that may sound weird but what I mean is the model number is PCG-8z2m (which is a valid Sony model number the other one is not) but the model name may be Sony Vaio 123 or something like that. Getting drivers for the model name is often easier that the model number method and I use it all the time on dell laptops at work.
Hope that helps. If you need any more help you could always message me.
