Garage Sale....

Garage sale is fun and exciting! - We had a garage sale yesterday, and it was so exciting although I was dead tired after. I am also a patronizer and lover of garage sales as we get items which are at bargain prices...

We had a garage sale yesterday, and it was a huge success, although it was really tiring, sorting, pricing of items, displaying them, entertaining customers, and then the after care. I was really under stress--but it was a eustress really. When we opened at 8:00 A.M. there were already people milling around wanting to be the first to choose their favorite household items. And it was a blast...people from nearby subdivisions and places had to stop by our garage to check on items for sale--household items, clothes, perfumes, shoes, bags, etc. It was already our second garage sale; the first was also a huge success. I guess it's not really for the money that we get--that's just secondary. It's really for the excitement, and the joy of seeing people buying our clothes, etc. My daughter again plans to hold another one a few months from now, probably October as it's our semestral break. What about you, have you conducted a garage sale? Or have you been a patronize of garage sales? I am, too. In fact, when there was a garage sale in another place, me and my daughter were the first ones to go. And it's real fun, and you get items at real bargain prices.

I really like garage sales; my problem is that by the time I get there all the good stuff is gone! I know a lady who got up especially early on the weekends and furnished most of her house from garage sales. When I was pregnant and, not yet having a child, getting going in the morning was a much faster process; I used to go to garage sales and swap meets a lot, in fact I bought the majority of my baby stuff there from cot to car seats; I saved a bundle! I'll tell you a secret, don't spread it around. My sister's bridesmaid dress that she wore for my wedding came from a garage sale; a couple of alterations here and there and voila! I only had one bridesmaid so that was easy. I was married 13 years ago and my sister still thinks a friend gave me the dress; I have no idea why I haven't told her!

You know, it's been so long since I've been to a garage sale. They are great as you can always find something cool or a bargain. The last thing I ever bought at a garage sale was a board game. It was really old and I thought it was cool although I can't remember what it was now... It would have been holding your own garage sale. Not only can you make a few extra dollars, you're cleaning out your clutter at the same time!

That's true. It's just like hitting two birds with one stone. But it's really exhausting I could not stand straight at the end of the day.

I had a few garage sales YEARS ago. and I've been to a few. For the most part, I enjoyed the experience. I see garage sales as win-win situations. The seller gets rid of stuff they no longer need and gets some cash back for it. The buyers get some really great deals on stuff that they need or want.

My sister loves garage sales. She loves just milling around looking for something she might need that she can get for a really good price. I think her best find was some really nice, heavy duty, bar stools that she bought for I think $5 a piece. I was pretty impressed. Although i have never held a sale, I think it's a great way to not only make a few dollars, i think it's also a great way to clear your house of some clutter. Things you no longer want or use can get to someone that needs them or can use them. Works for everyone involved.

Getting rid of your old stuff via this kind of method is exhausting but the thing is. you enjoyed it and the fact that you help other people to get items that they wanted from your stuff is a big help from them and for you as well. Knowing this items are already used, the usability and their specific functions are still intact and this are the products your buyers are looking for. Thank god there are still people willing to spend their time getting rid of their old stuff for others even though they will just earn small amount of money out of it. Kudos to you!!
