Gambling is not the only thing Las Vegas, NV is good for. There are other things like shows, restaurants, the theme of the hotels, and outside the city, there is Red Rock Canyon. Many things are free, however, just walking along the strip, there is are the fountains and water show at Bellagio, the Volcano in front of Mirage, the Botanical Gardens inside Bellagio and the Sirens v Pirate show outside of Treasure Island. Do you have a favorite attraction in Las Vegas to see when not gambling in Vegas? Is it free or is it a paid attraction, like a show or a paid exhibit like Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay?

Isn't all Las Vegas a big big show in order to sell you illusions? When I went there years ago from San Francisco I had a voucher with me for a free breakfast. Can you imagine when I came there: a long long queue of people standing in line as well for a breakfast ..... I was sooo disappointed, since I was a student by that time and had to calculate with any dime.
But what was really free behind Las Vegas .... the beautiful view of Grand Canyon. I am still eating from this memory.

Yes indeed, the Hoover Dam was a moment of WOW when catching the first glimpse of it on my trip. It is one of my strongest impressions from American art of construction (right after Golden Gate Bridge).

I agree. The purpose of a lot of the freebies is to draw people into the casinos and restaurants inside the casinos. And you also bring up a good point - outside the city, there are attractions such as the Hoover Dam, and Red Rock Canyon.

Thanks a lot for that info. I will definitely visit Las Vegas maybe June or July to see my sister, nieces and a nephew. I thought there are no places we could visit which are for free.
And I also thought that the casinos were the only hotel attractions.I don't think I could afford to see a show in the big hotels but maybe a tour around will be just fine.

Just a note though, the Sirens v pirates show, although I've never seen it - the one time i stuck around for it, the show was cancelled due to strong winds - I've heard some people refer to this as at least a PG-13 show - the rest of the street shows you find sponsored by the hotels are G rated. The most popluar has got to be the Fountains at Bellagio accompanied by the musical scores.

I went to Las Vegas with company paying most of my room if I listened to a 90 speech. I also received free show tickets, 4 dinners and a tour for 4 for listening to another presentation. The last day we were there we were offered $150 cash to listen to a presentation. I also received house money to gamble with if I signed up for the players clubs at different casinos. I met one man who told me that you should only pay for your transportation and the rest should be free, if you work it right.
