Username has already become part of our virtual life.
Most of them really catch my attention and makes me wonder why did he/she come up with that certain kind of identity.
Why don't you share the story behind your usernames for us to know and for others to find out.
Here's mine. Why BABYFAZT09?
I am an avid fan of a basketball team here in our counrty's professional league.
Because of that addiction in basketball, I joined a clan wherein we share the same devotion to that particular team.
I was the youngest by then, that's why they called me "baby".
My favorite player was known as mr. fast, that's why I attached "fazt".
Just want to change the "s" to "z" for more emphasis. LOL
I was thinking of how to affix the monicker of my other favorite player and can not come up with a good sounding name.
Btw, he was named as "The Slasher".
With that, I just opted to put his jersey number which is 09 after the formed "babyfazt".
That's it. That is where I derived my username, babyfazt09.

Good derivation. And excellent creativity.
My username might sound a bit weird. And I really was not interested in ebooks at that time. But after that, I started collecting ebooks and now I have about 1200 ebooks with me. I am planning to start a blog about ebooks now.
Anyway you are correct, username does have some impact on our virtual life and just like me, many have experienced this. I really hope you will be a good Basket ball player. I used to be addicted to basketball when I was in my 9-10 grades. I was an expert in lap shot and tight-d blocking. I usually played the defense. But occasionally, at the final quarters, I might surprise everyone with a lap..
Regards,
Ajith.
P.S.: I liked this discussion very much!

Well, why didn't you just make it babyzlasher, instead? LOL. Just kidding my friend. Anyway, my username came entirely from my (whoo..it's all coming back to me!) it came from my...okay so here it is: it came from my ex's promise of the crossroad,(that someday we'll meet again in the right time, in the right place)when he broke up with me. And here I am...the stupid me still counting on that vow and claiming to be the "xroadsempress" hoping to come across the crossroads he's talking about and never leave the place until we're back together. There, silly, silly me. :D

The story behind my user name is very simple. Green is my favorite color. It makes me feel refreshed and relaxed. Greenline is the line I want to walk along to be happy, relaxed, and relaxed at all times !

Sounds like babyfats. lol! Just kidding! Well mine came up looooong ago back in 2002 i think. It came from a filename of the star i drew on Macromedia Fireworks. It's a violet inverted star that i drew for my website. It was just my attempt to draw a star but the result totally sucked. My friends would tease me about it. So to make it appear that i am not affected by it, i use it all the time to call myself. Well back then, mod was already my nickname so i added star. They got tired of teasing me so until they like calling me modstar.

For many years, I lived with a volitile husband. I was so tired of tension and anger. When I left it, I had found a measure of peace not known in a long time. I am a peaceful woman at heart, hence my user name PeacefulWmn9. The nine represents my birth month.
Interesting topic : )

Sultana has been pretty much my username on plenty of forums or sites. I first used it 4-5 years ago. You see I was fascinated by anything vampire those days. Once I saw a vampire name generator, so I tried it. Sultana was what it gave me. The H part is my family surname.

The story behind the use of the username, of course, depends of the perception of each person. Well, I'll explain why I use my username as above. Username that I use is dandit, of course, have meaning, at least for me. dandit have meaning : dan is my first name (daniel), while dit is the firs name my girlfriend (dita). So, all depends on the reason for each person.

Well, this is my second username, but most people online refer to me as Kai, Kzn, or Kaizen. This is because usually my username is 'Kaizen' but sometimes, it happens to be taken. I used to use 'Kai' but it was always taken, and some places don't allow 3 character usernames. So, my friend started calling Kaizen. I didn't even know it was a word at the time(Japanese meaning 'Always Improving'). So it sorta just stuck. 'Kaizen' was already taken here, so I choose to use this one instead, which is what I use when the one I use is already taken.
So, the thing on this one is actually because of a game. It had a creature called the Doom Kitten, and my friend wouldn't stop talking about it, so I started using the nick FluffyDoomKitten, and well, I kinda liked it. Also, the best part about it is nobody ever uses it. So, it's a pretty good back-up username.
So those are the reasons for my nicks, really. Not too elegant or over-done. They just happened to come into place and stayed.

I find it quite interesting and the stories behind the usernames are really great. I got mine partly in high school and partly when I moved to university. I go tthe ending MUCHE (which was attached to my first name) when we were in a trip to phoenix and one of my good friends said that she will attach that ending to my name because it just sound more summery . The MI was given to me from my professor at the university. When I told him me name he said that all he could remember was that there was an M sound in there (yeah my name is hard to say). So he asked if he could call me MIMI (which I hate) so he shortened to MI. Ever since I walked out that class on that day everyone has been calling me mimuche.
