giving up your passion

I've realized that I have to give up my passion for some sort of reasons. I'm so much devoted to basketball. Can't explain my emotions whenever I'm playing it. Even my sickness couldn't stop me from playing. Hence, I feel more energized and in shape when I get to dribble and shoot the hoops. But I have to quit on playing it now. Maybe some wouldn't just understand why. I tend to keep the reason for myself. I just don't want any other player to be discouraged because of my explanation towards it. When I told my friends about it, they were all shocked and asked why. They know for themselves how I love basketball so much. One of them even said that, "why would you give up your life?" I don't want to but I have to. Have you in your life came up with a decision wherein you have to give up your passion? How did you do it? What are your reasons for you in doing it?
