I was aged 18 when I traveled around Europe by train alone. I stayed in youth hostels and met plenty of other friendly travelers. At age 20 I went around the world and was on my own after Los Angeles. I think age 18 is the best age to begin traveling alone and it doesn't matter if a person begins traveling at a later age. As soon as possible is best I think. These days I travel with my toddler son. We went to Cape Town and the Garden Route this January. Next year I hope to take him to Vancouver. Other trips high up my travel wish list are the Philippines for island hopping and snorkeling as well as Cartagena de Indies in Colombia.

wow you did? thats cool you still doin that even when you're a family person now! im sure your famlily all love travelling, (well, who doesnt?) i think its better start travelling alone in your own territory/ country first so that easy to adapt with the culture.
yup, i agree the sooner the better. once you're working, there will never be a better chance thn when you're young and free.
i hope you'll make it to vancouver and the philpines and colombia! happy travelling :D!

With some effort it is possible to travel as a family. I find steps difficult with a buggy though. Getting ground floor accommodation will be my choice on my next trip I think. One country I always dreamed about going to was the Seychelles and that was like a dream come true. I also wanted to go on a safari in Africa and it was wonderful when I did that. Slowly but surely I hope to visit all the countries on my travel wish list.

I was 19 when I left home (UK). I emigrated to Australia with my then boyfriend who later became my husband. It was a big step to take and I probably wouldn't have done it on my own.
That was a long time ago, I am still here in Australia - and still have the urge to travel! If I could afford it, I would love to take my time traveling through Italy - my dream!

Have been telling my girlfriend, when we got married we'll move to australia together. its a nice country. i was there for 3 years studies but didn't manage to complete the course, needed to come back home. I really love the people, multicultural!

I dont think there is any age for travel. The most important thing is to have an urge for travel and the means would follow. But yes money is very important, as we cannot keep on walking.
