Oh No I got my hair cut!!!

About a year ago I went to the hairdresser to get a perm. OK so the gal doing it made a mistake and ruined my hair. I had to go back the same week to get about 6 inches cut off because it was all breaking. So last week after much pondering I decided to get it cut again because it was starting to break off more (still from the perm I believe) I went to the beauty shop and got my hair cut. I looked so good when I walked out of ther but the next day I tried to capture the look I walked out with. So what is it that they do in the shop that I can't get back? Has this happened to any of you? I admit I do not spend a lot of time on my hair so I always look for something very casual but why can't I get the same look? Help me out here.
