'Staying home all the time'.... does anybody REALLY do this??

There have been many discussions I have happened upon lately, and many that I come across from time to time where people talk about parents who 'stay home' or anybody who is home 'all the time'. I have a HARD time believing that ANYBODY actually does this. Why the heck would you do this? Yes I realize the economy is in the crapper and some people don't own cars or don't drive, but still, there are plenty of things to do that are inexpensive or free if you can do a search for community events in the town you live (and anybody on here with internet access can do that easily), most people should have some coworkers, acquaintances, friends, or family that live close enough that they could be reached by walking or public transportation if you don't drive...
What is the deal? The other part... boredom. I still don't get how ANYBODY could EVER be bored! What is wrong with you people? Don't you see all the things to do in life? With your other half? With your children? With your friends? For yourself? There's not enough time in a day, in a week, in a month, in a year, in a LIFETIME to get BORED!!! If you're bored how in the world is that happening? Are you a boring person or something? Do you have no interests? Do nothing? Care about nothing? Want to be nothing? Sorry for the tangent.... I guess this ties in with staying at home because so many people seem to equate 'staying home' with boredom. I suppose if you have nothing to do at home, then that could be true. My home is a veritable playground, I have all kinds of stuff as well as taking care of it all (since a house doesn't clean itself, a pantry and fridge don't restock or update themselves, meals don't cook themselves, laundry doesn't wash itself... ) I could spend an entire day on the internet if I wanted... lol.
DO YOU stay at home all the time? Does it not suit you? Can you think of some things you could do to make your home more entertaining, comfortable, enjoyable, etc, or do you think you might venture out of it sometimes and explore your world instead of sitting in your house? LOL! Perhaps I am spoiled. I love my house and I have plenty to do in it, but I also enjoy going out. There is no end to stuff to do, or at least I can always find something. Need some motivation?

I agree with you about there not being enough time in the day.I usually don't sleep more than 6 hours a night and I still don't seem to find time to do everything that I want to do in a day. I can't remember the last time I was bored. My children don't tell me they're bored anymore either because they know I'll find them something to do and its not always something fun LOL.
As for staying home all the time, it would drive me nuts. Even if we don't have anything specific planned we usually take our little guy for a walk, to the park, anything to get out in the fresh air.

LOL! Isn't it funny that sleep is usually the first to go when you have too much to do? I learned early NEVER to admit to ANYBODY I was bored, even if I was, because that meant the worst thing ever would be coming my way and I'd definitely not like it...
We like to do stuff, we are social so at least being around other people even if we don't know them is a plus to each day lol.

I think the term 'stay at home mom' should go away too. A mom is a mom is a mom. I don't like the term working mom either. Every mom is a working mom unless she is a vegetable in a coma. I would be partial to saying 'employed mom' or 'mom with two jobs'. I would be up the freaking wall too if I stayed home all the time as well. Good thing I have plenty of walls lol.

Hey mommyboo! I think that you answered the question to this
discussion in your last question! lol Motivation! That is the
key! If someone says that they are bored, that is because they
are not motivated to find something to do! If you look around
you always can find something to do as you said! If you have
to stay at home there is always something that NEEDS to be
done! It is just a question of "do you want to do it"? Most
times the answer is a negative! That is part of the problem!
The people that say that they are bored and have to stay at
home usually don't want to find something to do! They could
if they wanted to, but they don't! I can always find something
that needs doing, but it may not always be what I WANT to do!
So if that is the case and it is a nice day I just get up and
go outside! I don't have a car, but I have feet and legs and
I am thankful for that! Sometimes people are just not thankful
for the simple things in life! That is why they say that they
are "bored" and they should be ashamed of themselves!

me....staying at home.... oh!! thats a last thing I would do that.
I need atleast a small walk around the street.
Sitting at home 24/7 would drive me mad.
There are people who really enjoy sitting within the four walls and enjoying a music or a television show...
But to me.... That doesn't make a healthy body and mind.
Just peep out and enjoy the world that is given to us...

Well, right now, I'm stuck "at home" or restricted to the environs to which my own feet will take me. That doesn't mean I'm unhappy about it, or that it is not a choice.
I run a business from my home, I am a homemaker, a mom, a wife.
When I get tired of being in the house, I have a beautiful property to enjoy, outside. I can take my dogs for a walk. Without worrying about cars hitting them. I used to live in the city, and would have to go away from home to find a park to walk my dog. Now, I just step outside and I'm at the park. In fact I was just thinking that yesterday when I walked with the dogs in the back field.
When my kids were little, I had stints where I stayed at home with them, and looked after other little ones. I can't say it was boring because I was always busy. I also worked out. But I would always have preferred staying home to look after my own kids. I"m glad I had the opportunity, however short lived.

i really enjoy being alone in my room. it is the only place that i can relax and forget all the problems at work and with my boyfriend. there, i could read books and watch movies. i also love sleeping. and i guess, that's the main reason why i enjoy being alone in my room. how boring yet relaxing.

Nowadays, the Swine Flu spread over the world, I think there will be more and more ppl stay st home to avoid be infected, many plans have be changed. ppl are customed to wacthing TV, surfing on internet at home rather than going out. Same as u, I spend more time on playing with my pet, cooking and calling my freinds. I think it is also interesting but should not be take too long
