Of course it does not exist. The legend of a city of gold arose when the Spaniards in the 15th century were told stories of a fabulous city deep in the South American jungles, and of a man covered entirely in gold.
The Spaniards called this city "El Dorado". The city that they thought existed, did not exist, but the golden man did. During a religious ceremony, a man was covered entirely with gold dust which was then washed off in the waters of the sacred lake.
Several expeditions were sent in to the South American jungles to attempt to find this fabulous and mythical city and of course, all failed because you can't find what is not there.
