"Made" singers, what do you think about them?

Everyone knows some "made" singers, the singers that went to a TV show like "Idols" and won the contest. They get instant popularity, but it normally doesn't last long. Usually they don't even have a real talent. I wondered what you think about those singers that try to gain popularity through a TV program? I think they are not worthy being popular at all. If they have real talent, they should try to work it out for themselves, do it how they want to do it and not make a TV program and their jury decide if they break through or not.

Yeah but "try to work it out for themselves" may not work regardless if you have Talent or not. There is nothing that tops exposure. And "having talent" is relative the only thing that matters is if your fans think you have talet and actually buy your records or go to your consers. If your aim with your music is to make it your source of income...

Well I agree with you to some extent, but if you go to those TV shows, you can almost be sure that you're popularity will not last long, and it will probably not be from the fans you want it to be from.

Don´t get me wrong i hate idol type shows. But if i where a struggeling "talented" artist i would swallow my pride and go on Idol. I´m sorry to say but this would be your best option. If they even care about you or even remembers you after the season is over would be "talent"based.

If you have NO fans no matter how talented you think you are. Its like playing in the woods it sounds great but no one will actually hear it...

I think if they have talent, then going through a tv program is not so bad. But alot do not hav the talent that is needed to keep going after the show has ended.

But don't you think that if you have enough talent, that it is better to get respect in a "better" way (as in: not trying to get 'help' from the television shows, but trying to get your goal yourself?).
