Will an ant die if you throw it off the top of the building?

This was a question raised during one of our lunch time sessions here in the office. Interesting and it generated a lot of responses from my colleagues, both serious and laughable. :) If you throw an ant from the top of the building, will it die? If so, how? Theoretical answers, ok.

weird but funny question. i also do not think it will die because it is so light and it will just be blown away by tthe wind. it has less gravitational pull from the ground. lol

I don't think it would die because of it's weight compared to the blowing winds. It would just be blown by and could glide over the wind until it safely lands somewhere. Not to mention their exo-skeletons are too tough. But of course, if it does land on the road and a truck or a person walks by squishing it, that wouldn't be a great thought.

Funny and interesting question. I agree with the first responder that because it is so light, the ant probably wouldn't die. I would think that no matter how high of a height you dropped it from, it would fall or blow pretty gently to the ground.

That depends on how you plan to throw it. If you 'hold' it to throw it, more than likely, it'll die due to the pressure exerted on it by you holding it. As for the fall, ants are too light to get knocked out due to a fall. They'll just glide with the air and land softly. I can bet it won't die!
