I hear a lot of stories everyday about people wanting to work from home if given the chance. I can see their reasons why, and that is to have quality time with their families. In truth, I'm tempted to work from home actually. I just would like to find an opportunity that can equal my salary in my full-time job.
For my fellow mylotters, what do you think can make you decide to work from home, giving up your full-time job. What are the advantages and disadvantages in working in the comforts of your own home?

First the disadvantages is that you will probably not make as much money, and also that your family will interrupt you. The other thing is that the place that you consider an office may not qualify if your family also uses it for their computer games so you may have to figure out the time you use it and the time they use it.
The advantages is that you save money on gasoline and travel. You can set your own hours. You do not have to adhere to a certain code - not that I am for slobs, but in some jobs, your hair has to be immaculate, you may have to be a certain height, have a bubbly personality especially if you work as a receptionist.
I do not know about men's job, but when I was an office worker, the rather plump, girl with hair over the place, not attractive girl never was the receptionist.

I agree with you. On my end my workplace at home is not an issue. It's peaceful and quiet so concentration is not hard to achieve. The big issue however is the compensation. I haven't discovered any site that can pay me a decent amount of money that can sustain my daily expenses. If I reach around $700 a month with my online stints then that can be my go signal to stop my full-time job.

I agree. Working at home is great. But you really need to separate your work from your family. I just started doing online jobs last month, so I have to share the laptop with my husband who is also continuously surfing the net for income generating ideas for his buy and sell business. May be after a month, when I have earned enough money, I will buy my own desktop pc, just for my work. And, maybe, a separate room where I can do my job without being interrupted.

Wow, I guess we are growing in numbers. I too would like to work from home and quit my call center job. Honestly, i feel more satisfied doing my work at home. I currently work as a part time data entry personnell for a British company. I'm just awaiting the signal to go full time. But if that opportunity comes i'll jump off from my current the ship. What i'm actually concerned if I do that is the security of the online jobs. how about you?

Given a choice, I would prefer to work at home. If I can generate as much income or more at home compared to how much I earn here at work, I would definitely be willing to work at home instead. The advantages of working at home is that I get to save on transportation expenses, I get to spend time with the kids and monitor them. The possible disadvantages is that I will have to make my kids understand that even though I am at home, I am working and I need to have time alone. Another is that usually working at home incomes are not stable or fixed. There may be times that I earn much less than I should, though there may be times that I earn more. I am so willing to work things out so that I can eventually be able to stay at home and work there. Its one of the reason I stay here in mylot because I need to be able to earn extra income to pay off my debt so that working at home will not be as risky as it is now

the only online job that i think in the long term can replace your current job, is GDI. If you are interested, send me a mail for more info. They pay you 1 dollar every month for each user you have referred to them. I have some good sites that will help you get referrals if you are interested.

I, too, am tempted to quit my regular job and work from home.
I have thought about it and I guess if my working from home generates more income than my current regular job, I would go for it.
Advantages with working from home: You can spend more time with your family, You have full control of your time. You can work whenever you want to or as needed.
Disadvantages : It's not a regular job. There is no job security. You won't receive benefits that a regular employee receives.

Working at home is a good idea.
pros : You can spend more quality time with your family. No more annoying boss, no more punch card. You can start working at your own phase as well.
cons : Since you work at your own phase, you require a lot of discipline. If you laze around and work as you please, your income may come as they please too. Contract is something that you must work hark to obtain. You have to compete with others to ensure your income.
If you already decided to work at home, I want to wish you luck!

There are both advantages and disadvatages of working from home. Advantages are like spending time with our family, relaxing when needed. Disadvantages are like we cannot fully concentrate on our work.

I would really like to work from home. Maybe it is because I am getting tired of the typical 8 to 5 job in the office and working in the corporate world. At least, when I am working from home, I don't have to wake up very early, get dressed in smart clothes, and commute to the office. I can just get out of bed, toothbrush, and start working at my computer. There is also less expenses for me. The only thing I will miss when I am working from home is the group of friends and colleagues that can be usually found in the office. Sometimes, one can get lonely at home all day. But at least I can control my time and schedule. If I wish to go out, I can just go out in the afternoon if I have no pending work.

You are right. If I do have the capital I need to start my own business from home, I'll probably convert my garage into an internet station/cafe. This way I have a valid reason to work from home. I can concentrate with my online jobs as well. Monthly income will not be hard to achieve then.
Our house is just near the school by the way. At the same time this is a new subdivision so I'm thinking the demand will still be there.
I would be glad if anyone can also give me an advice with regard to this plan.
