Shadow people are supernatural beings that look like human silhouette with no facial features. They can be seen only in the dark. Their movement is very quick and looks disjointed. I've heard that they are attracted by strong emotions like sadness, anger or fear. The person that encounters shadow person often feels paralyzed by it's weird energy.
Do you think they're real? Do you have any experience with shadow people?
[b]Can you tell me why people say "Never talk to shadow people."

Well from when i was 16 from time to time i saw sometimes shadows moving, but it was just fast movement and most of the times i knew that it was just my mind playing tricks. But some months ago I saw a shadow man: I fell asleep, i forgot to turn off the tv and also a little lamp, at a certain point of the night i woke up (i guess it was around 02:45 or 03:00). When i sleep i don't close the door of the room and usually if someone pass near my room i wake up, when i woke up that night i looked towards the corridor and i tought that there was someone out there, at first i tought it was a buglar and to have a better view i used my elbows to rise a little bit. He/It was 6 foot tall, i couldn't see his eyes but i felt that he/it was staring at me, i was scared so i freezed myself, i don't know how long it lasted but after a bit he/it went away with a strange movement, it was like he/it was sliding very slowly on the wall. After he/it went away i looked in the corridor but there was just darkness, so i closed the door and after half a hour i managed to fell asleep again.

That's creepy. I know I wouldn't be able to sleep the same night after that. Can you try to describe that movement in more detail?

Thanks for the reply. Sounds pretty scary. I believe you that you saw something but I still don't really believe in shadow people even if I want to believe. I guess I have to see them for myself...

I'll try to describe better, when i woke up everyone was asleep and the corridor outside my room was dark. When i looked toward the corridor i saw someone standing there, i used my elbows to rise a little bit and to see him clearly, the features of his face were not distinguishable, at first i tought he/it was wearing a balaclava (that's why i tought it was a burglar) but i couldn't see his eyes. From the moment that i saw him i had the feeling that he was staring at me, i was scared and I didn't move a single muscle after the movement with the elbows, I just stayed there staring back at him. After i don't know how much time, he begin to move really slowly, he moved in a strange and unnatural way, it was like he was sliding continuously and very slowly. While he was sliding away he continued to stare at me. After i couldn't seen him anymore, i stayed still for a couple of minutes then i checked if there was any trace of him in the corridor but there was none. So i went back to my room, closed the door and after half hour of horrible toughts, i managed to fall asleep again. I think it's all there aren't any other details, but if you want to ask me questions, i'll reply.

Some people have said that some figures I encountered might have been shadow people, but that's all I know of them.
the things I saw were in daylight, but sort of a human shaped patch of unfocused ness.
like when you look at a light, then look away, and everything is a bit fumey looking. it's like that, but shaped like a person.
and they tried to hunt me and were very scary.
basically, I was out horse riding, when I saw two of them. I was used to seeing them, but not in that exact location, rather on a farm near the bridlepath usually.
anyway, the paths near there had high banks with trees going along them.
one went down one bank, one the other, and they went low and scuttly, on all fours. if you've seen the Mummy 2, the recent film, you know the ones where they were running along a building wall alongside a bus, it was rather like that, and then they tried to cut off the path in front of us.
then I let the horse go as fast as he wanted until we were home.

That sounds really creepy. Did the horse noticed anything? You said you were used to seeing them..for how long and how often? Do you still see them? Any more stories to share?

I've seen a shadowy form before but it wasn't in the pitch dark, it was at night while I was in my living room watching T.V late in the evening ( many years ago)and I had two lamps on, so it was a well lit room .. My cat noticed it before me and when I turn around to look to see what she was looking at, I saw it. It was a shadow shape form that was a whitish gray color and it was blurry but definitely human shape & about 6ft in height. As soon as I looked at the shadow person it took off down the hallway and vanished. I never saw it again. It happened at a apartment I use to live in many years ago. I have never heard the saying " Never talk to shadow people". Some theories suggest that shadow people are demon's or other worldly beings that exist in a parallel dimension that overlap's our world.

It surprised me more then anything else.It happened so fast that my reaction was more " Whoa, is that what I think it was?", then when it took off I went after it to see where it went. My brother use to live in the same apartment and when he moved out I moved in, but he told me he use to hear the sounds of somebody walking around in the living room and hallway when he was in the bedroom.Me and my family have experienced a lot of unexplained paranormal events on and off threw out the years.I never use to believe in such things until something unexplained and scary happened at my sisters house ( which was really haunted).

I think there are different names for it in different culture. I believe that in my culture, it is called the 'penanggal' or 'langsuir'. These names are horror names and kids are terrorized whenever there are stories of these paranormal terms.
They come in shadows and there are some more horror tales in my culture whereby a head with intestines looming below will fly and come to seek those that are giving birth and sucking the blood. But then I heard this stories mostly from my childhood days, and some related this during their village times too.
Pretty scary, but it's best to be scared only of God. However, I don't deny these horror 'shadow people' existence and they are there at different times and in different days. Thanks for sharing the wikipedia link...

Penanggal and langsuir aren't the same thing as shadow people. But thanks for sharing because I never heard about these bloodsuckers before and I'm always interesting to see how every culture has their own wraiths.

Shadow people are supposed to be incredibly malevolent spirits of some sort. I've heard stories of people seeing human-shaped shadows in graveyards or haunted locations and end up being attacked by unseen forces (presumably the shadow people). I've read about people who've seen them face-on and claim they have red eyes, therefore raising the question of them being demons or something demonic in nature. They are generally not believed to be spirits of people who were once living. There are a lot of theories about shadow people, but nobody really can peg them for anything but violent beings who feed off of human emotions. That's why the warning to not converse with them exists.

I'd heard of them before, but until I read this, I never really knew what they were. Thanks for explaining them to me. I'm not sure if they are real or not. Everything is real to someone who has seen it, and some things may or may not be real to those who have not experienced it, so I guess I won't know until I encounter one, or get to know someone else who has.

I don't know who they are or what they want.

As far as I know, I have never seen or encountered a Shadow Person. But, I do have a close relative that has.
According to said relative, it happened when she was six years old. She was sleeping with her parents and I guess woke up at some point during the night. When she woke up, she saw the figure/shape/outline of a man in the darkness standing there at the foot of the bed staring at her. She woke her parents up but they didn't see anything and didn't believe her and told her to go back to bed.
It didn't strike me until later that what she was describing fit the general description of Shadow People perfectly.
And you know what? This person has no idea what a Shadow Person is.

Even after reading about so many encounters I'm not sure whether I should believe in them or not. I believe she thought she saw something but don't know if it was a shadow person or her imagination running high.
