SWAT Team At My Complex Today - Suspect Finally Surrendered

Today I got a call from my youngest daughter's school that she had thrown up and needed to be picked up. I went and picked her up and when I got back home I saw that my street had been blocked off at both ends and the SWAT team, numerous K-9 Units, 2 fire trucks, and several other police units were all up and down my street with guns and rifles drawn. Well, I was afraid that I would not be able to enter my residence because of all this. The police asked me where I lived and I told them and they let me go in. Basically, one of the residents here was involved in some sort of domestic dispute and the victim was taken to the hospital. And then the assailant would not surrender to the police. So a standoff resulted. The whole thing lasted for almost 5 hours and the police are actually still out there right now. I can't tell you how nerve wracking it was today. And the whole time I had my 4 year old with me at home. It was very unnerving to see the SWAT team dispatched right next to our swimming pool with all of their Kevlar vests on and their camoflauge uniforms, etc. and with their assault rifles all pulled out and aimed at the resident's doors and windows. I am just glad that no one was hurt and the person finally gave up. Now I am relieved that nothing worse happened and all is calm again.

I hope your daughter doesn't have the flu or some stomach virus. I hope she feels better by now. That must've been nerve-wracking! I hope the person who went to the hospital is okay. It's a shame that these things have to happen.

I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. They did that at my old nieghbors house as he was had raped her and her daughter. I did try to tell them that he wasn't there and that there were animals in the house. They used tear gas and broke into house and they had a key she gave them the key. But they kicked in the door. I'm so glad that your ok. Your friend onlydia

That would so freak me out. I could not handle to live in a place where that was even likely to happen. It amazes me that people take this sort of thing in their stride. I'm glad nothing bad happened around your home. How's the little one?

Now, that's really scary. But at least, in the end, no harm was really done. But I'm glad that the person surrendered, and that no one was really injured seriously enough. I can understand you're being scared and everything. I would be too.

Wow, that's something. I don't think anything that big has happened where I live. At least I've never witnessed anything like that myself. That must have been something to see. I'm glad the suspect surrendered. Is the person that went to the hospital okay now or do you know yet?

wow, that was some news you have here. if it had happened to us, it would be kind of exciting to see real and live action, but scary at the same time. you'll never know what will happen when shootings will start to take place. it's a good thing though nobody got hurt. what did your 4 year old said and did about all that was going on in your place?

I'm glad that you're OK. It had to have been very scary. I live in Pittsburgh and knew 1 of the police officers that was killed on 4/4/09. It's really shaken some of us up. Things never use to be this bad. I'm not sure what's brought about these changes but it's scary for everyone. Some police officers will even tell you that they feel like they're taking their lives into their own hands every time that they go to work. I wish the world would become a better place.

That sounds like a typical day in my wonderful neighborhood. Are you sure we aren't neighbors? LOL. Seriously though, I bet that was scary for the little one. But then again, when I was 4 years old, I found things like that interesting. Well, I can't lie, I still do. Every once in awhile we need a little bit of excitement in our lives, as long as it isn't an everyday occurence, just take it as entertainment, and be happy it isn't happening to you. LOL. Have a good evening. ~Love

WOW! That had to be frightening, especially having to go past it with your child to get home, not knowing just what might happen, even with the police allowing you to go. I think I would be very nervous about having to go past them since I would have no idea what the person's intentions or capabilities were who they were trying to apprehend. Scary. I'm glad it's over and that the victim is getting treatment. I hope she/he doesn't go back to whoever caused this. It might not end so well if it were to happen again.

Wow. That's really a scary story. I can imagine how unnerved you must have been coming home to a situation like that. I can't say I've ever had to deal quite with anything like that. Though, I agree, your little one will have a story to tell at school lol. The good thing is that no one was hurt, you were able to return to your home safely, and that things ended on a good note. Good to hear that no one got hurt. I can't imagine if i were you perhaps i will fainted soon. After you pass such experience, perhaps you will think that those were once-in-life experience. And if it happened twice in your life, you should know how to act on those situation. Have you ever imagined how did the people on a war field felt? They encountering such situation everyday. And, you just learnt it. I hope we will have a better world soon. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.
