Do you ever feel that you need to fight for time at the computer to go on line when it comes to your family?
I need to share the family computer. It is just a few people in my household which includes a five year old boy.
Of course now my son wants time at it. I usually let him do something educational or play some sort of game.
How many of you have to fight for time on the computer or do you mainly have it all to yourself for the most part?
I really don't have to fight for it but thought that maybe some of you had to at your house and I was just curious.

We used to have 1 computer and then we broke down and bought another one. Hubby gave me the new one and he shares the other one with the kids. Since I do things on line to earn money and they were always screwing something up on the computer he said I needed my own. Im a lucky woman! Love him for it.
Now you just hear the teens argue over his when he isnt using it. LOL!

You just had to break down and get another one?lol I understand. Sometimes that is what you have to do in order to keep some peace in the family!
That is good if you all can figure how to share and make it work. That is very important when there is quite an amount of people in the house.
Now it seems that the teens are going to be fighting anyway. The main thing is that you have your own computer now.
Take care and I wish you much continued luck with your own computer!

Actually at the time I was making about 500 a month on line, lol and seeing that we had 7 kids in the house that forever screwed something up, we figured it was a good investment. Now I dont have all the time to do everything that I used to as Im busy during the day chasing our 2 year old.. lol

I have to fight with my brother. In fact he is fighting with me more than I do becaue I use to do mylot for 2-3 hours a day and he wants to do it in the night. Sometimes, when I don't get up in time at the morning, I try to compensate at night but when I do that he gets angry as he also wants to do something.
Well, on that day, whoever gets to the pc first after 10 in the night, gets the access of the interne for the night!

Sorry to hear that you have to fight with your brother. That can't be any fun when there is only one computer to a house hold. I see that you like to spend time here at myLot. Two to three hours is a pretty good amount of time.
I am a stay at home mother and probably spend a couple of hours here and there at the computer in between taking care of my son and some other chores around the house.
It is a good thing if you can work things out so that every one is happy.
I sure wish you luck.

No, I don't fight with the intention to fight but it is a fun fight with each other. I quite enjoy it, it is better than having no one with whom you can fight to get something, isn't it? I love my brother very very very much.
Yes, three hours is a must for me. I am even thinking of start doing it from 4 in the morning so that I can do it for 4 hours in a day!

That is not always good when the use of the computer becomes abused.
You need to share especially when there is not enough computers to go around in the house.
It sounds like your brother spends a lot of time on it with his girlfriend.
I think it is only fair that the computer get shared.
Some house holds seem to work these things out on their own however it does not work so well for everyone.
Thanks for replying. Take care.

I'm very happy to have a computer all to myself. However, living alone isn't all peaches and cream.

That is good to hear that you have the computer all to yourself. Not everyone is able to have that. Although you do say you live alone I imagine that it can be lonely.
The computer can be a good resource for getting information and even for playing games.
You don't need to fight or squabble over the computer and you can come here to myLot to correspond with others.
I wish you much luck here with myLot and have fun with your computer. Take care.

Lol. That is a good one antiquelady. Good to hear your thoughts. When there is no body with you but the dogs then you are in pretty good shape!
I just figured I would ask this question out of curiosity and got some interesting answers.
I like your answer! Take care and have continued fun and success here at myLot.

I mainly have the internet all by myself. My parents aren't into computers, they just check their e-mails and that's it. Also, when chatting to some of our relatives online. But if ever I've got a competition in using this laptop someday? I'd probably share it.hahaha.But I guess, we'll have to regulate some sort of rules on what times and hours we would be in. I'm an internet freak so it plays a lot for me.

We just got a second computer a few months ago and I thought that would stop my teenagers from fighting. I was wrong LOL. now they just fight over who gets to use the new computer.
I don't have to fight for the computer myself because I usually want to go on at different times of the day than they do. If I do need to use a computer I just tell them and they are usually pretty good at getting off right away.

No, since my PC is for my exclusive use. Well, not exactly, but it is the main system in the house and I spend a lot of time using it. When all the kids are home there will be 2 PCx and 5 laptops running, for a family consisting of 14 members. Only 12 use the computer. So there is not much squabble on whose turn it is to use the computer. I am not financially well off but I put education over entertainment. My target is to have one computer for each member.
Sometimes a fight occurs between the siblings but so far the fights are manageable. Sometimes they share usage time.
all the best,
rosdimy

We don't actually fight for it, but everyone is always looking to see if the chair is empty so they can grab it and get on. There are nine of us in the house and we all are out most of the day and come in around the same time in the evening so you can imagine how it can be. I am fortunate this week because I have to do some work at a computer lab, that's how I am able to be on now. I think it is most frustrating for me because I have the lowest income and desperately need to make more and that's my main purpose online whereas there are two adults who do nothing but play games and then of course the kids like to play games as well as listen music on utube.

i just give in to my 3 year old. besides, he loses interest in his kiddie games. also, he knows the concept of "work". anytime he's told that mommy or daddy is working in the computer he just sticks to his cable or dvd.

nope... what we fight over is the mouse... lol.. yeah really the mouse. we have two laptops here and desktop pc, one for me and each for my two kids. when my son broke the mouse on his desktop pc, well, he was asking for mine, im using a laptop but i want to use mouse on it as i find it easier for surfing... we bought him a new mouse but it got broken again. so whenever i am going to be online, i have to take the mouse from him when he's using it... and sometimes when i cook or do something else and left the laptop, he would sneak and take my mouse again. up until now i wasnt able to buy another mouse again for him, so we kind of fight over it... lol

Yea my brothers and I are always fighting over the computer but not over games in case you were thinking. We just usually like to surf the net and visit sites like MyLot which are really interesting.

My God I think I would fight hard if I had to do that. But in my family there is only my husband and my child and we have both our own computers. My kid is still young to use a computer but when she is older I will definitely get her one otherwise it would drive me crazy if I had to fight for time on the computer.

I live alone and have 2 computers so there's no competition! When I was married, my husband worked with computers and everyone had their own--which wasn't good for the kids and I really had to compete for their attention. But at least we weren't fighting over who got the computer...
It's good to take turns. Don't let your son have a computer of his own, it really impedes good relationships if you're not careful.

The only other family member that uses my computer is my husband and he will either ask me if I mind before he gets on-line or use it when he knows I am not going to. If he does happen to be on the computer and I need on it, or even just want on it, he will normally give it up to me.
We don't allow the kids on this computer because it is the only one we have right now that we can use on-line. We do have a laptop that we let them type on though.

For the past several years I have not had to share a computer. I lived with a boyfriend who was old and had no interest in ever learning how to even turn the computer on. And I grew to spending a lot of time on here. My daughter moved in with me after I lost my job and she met a guy in England. They talk on webcam for hours every day. He is coming over here this summer so they can meet in person. But when my daughter is here I always let her have the computer because I know that she wants to talk to her guy. Since he is so far away I actually feel guilty if I want to get on the computer while she is on, even if she has been talking to him for several hours already. I guess I really don't mind sharing the computer with my daughter because I like to see how happy she is that she met this awesome dude. I must add, before you think I am nuts, that I have spent several hours on here talking to him and his family on web camera so I know he is not a serial killer. So I try to get on the computer when she is at work.
