Does listening to music disturb your concentration on work?

normally listening to music doesn't disturb me wen working... bt you know wen i ve got to work in a real tense atmosphere and in deadlines...whr we ve' got to concentrate like anything...music distracts a bit...although it calms down my mind...bt a bit distracts... all i do is i listen to it in regular intervals!!! so that i can work with my mind calm... :)

i feel comfortable for working while i'm listening to music, it's makes me feel relax and happy, it easy to think while music is around.

Listening to my favourite music very softly relaxes me.Not all bothers.Even when my sons works out problems,i used to play very soft music that he enjoys,so that he wont feel tired or frustrated.

I like listening to music while I work, its usually just a background for me, I don't take much notice of the lyrics so that I will not get distracted. I do not listen to loud music either, I prefer the mellow ones or the instrumentals. A good ambience can help stimulate the mind to be more creative. I guess it just depends on the type of music that you choose to listen to

I think music would only break my concentration if I was unfamiliar with the song, or just didnt like the song, otherwise I kind of groove to it and move with it

Depends on the music, I find that instrumental, techno and so on are better for when I need to concentrate. Music with words like rap and such makes it harder for me to concentrate because of the lyrics, it diverts my focus. Foreign songs work for me though, I can't understand a singe thing they are saying :P. Started listening to some Korean, Swedish, Japanese, French music recently.

it really depends on what kind of work is being done and what kind of music is being listened to. good classical music does not distract my concentration and I can listen to it while doing most anything. when I do not need to concentrate on the job too much I can listen to music and it actually helps my performance - such as when dusting, vacuuming or washing dishes... you know, the mundane stuff.

Yes, at times.. sometimes, the music disturbs me while i am doing some opportunities online.. it stops my ideas from flowing.. that's why i prefer not to listen to music when i am doing something online or offline work.. i salute people who can multitask, just like my hubby.. he can do his work with full concentration whilst listening to his iPod, cool! i hope i can do the same thing too.. i have tried for so many times but i failed..

I don't work but i go to school. Just today, I was studying in the library with my friend and when I finish looking over the notes, I looked over to him and he was listening to music while he was studying. I asked him, how could he do that and does he lost concentration. I really don't know how people do it. In the past I listen to music on the train when I go to school because i get bored but then i figure it's annoying to me and that it's better if I just take a nap through my ride to school. For me, I really cannot concentrate if I was listening to music while studying or even if I get a job, I don't think I can concentrate at work. But you are not suppose to listen to music at work, am i right.

yep i would say that music stops me from fully focusing on my work but i still listen to music anyway, in fact i'm listening to music write now and i wouldn't change that for anything. i love music too much, life is about living not getting work done

i love to listen to music if i am working. especially when i am too busy with my work. but if my surrounding is very noisy i will stop the music.

actually i love music a lot.even though my phone battery is too low ill make it charge by putting in other cell phone.yea i am so fond of music.while studying only i am far away frm listening music.i listen to music in all the remaining time.i like music a lot,so i dont feel that it disturbs my concentration.but i feel disturb while i study.but on work i dont feel that it disturbs my concentration....

No music does not disturb my concentration in work, I can concentrate moew nicely on work and I keep on getting more ideas of increasing my efficiency at work. I alwatys keep on listening to music while I am working in office... The only thing that I take care of is that I do not listen to loud music while I am working as you tend to enjoy the beats and even though we feel that we are able to concentrate we are making simple mistakes

i cant concetrate w/o music i used to not be able to concentrate with it on but you get used to it

it helps me concentrate more. it keeps me focus and relax. i guess it depends on the person. some people only like to be involved in one thing at a time. i wish i could listen to music while at work or school.

I have the same character like you.Especially for the songs which can touch my heart,on hearing the rhythme and the lyric i will fall into a state of releasing my mind and think of things uncousciously.Therefore i'm absolutely a person who is not fit for music while working.However, music is actually a maverlous thing.I like listening to the music whatever emtions i'm stuck in.I feel like listening to music because i want to let out my happiness to the world,while being depressed i want to find out one who is more dejected than I.

First you think what kind of song are listening in the time of working?? If you listen a soft music i think it keep you relax from your work trace. But if you listening a hard rock song with full volume then it is very difficult to work.

Sometimes it does to me. No matter what kind of music, i really cannot concentrate unto something. When i am editing something or doing some, photoshop matters, i cannot concentrate well if am putting my headphones on. But if there are things that are not in need of hurry, i tend to listen for me to not get bored at all. In studying also, i am listening to solemn music or maybe just instrumental. it makes my surrounding cool and it keeps me awake.

For me, it really depends on what work im doing. for example, if i am writing a blog and listening to music at the same time, i'll also get distracted. but if i am drawing or designing, music helps me not get bored.

Not at all it actually helps me enjoy what i'm doing.
