What do you look for in a friend?

What type of things do you look for in a friend. Maybe a good sense of humor is important? Perhaps you search for people with a friendly temperament? Do your friends need to be good listeners or have excellent communication skills? Will you only hang out with someone who is good at sports? Maybe you look for people with specific knowledge or expertise? Does someone have to share your beliefs in order to be your friend? Do they need to be attractive? Maybe they have to be into fashion or have an impeccable sense of style? Are you looking to make friends with others who are good at online gaming? Do they need to have lots of cash, cool stuff or a great car? Maybe you don't apply any criteria when choosing friends? Perhaps you don't consciously select your friends based on attributes so, in that case, what personality traits do your friends tend to have.

For me I guess I do not conciously look out for specific attributes but I feel like I can trust someone who seems to have a good heart, an air of genuinity about them, and doesn't want to talk endlessly about only themselves. I guess it helps if you share some interests too.

sense of humor and honesty... and the rest just falls into place
I can honestly say that I have never been attracted to anyone (either friend or romantically) for what they owned, or did for a living, or their social standing.. those things have never mattered to me at all.. it's a person heart that I look for... and if they make me laugh..well.. I will follow them around like a lost puppy forever! lol
