My friend at work was telling me that they googled their name and could not believe what all came up about them. They said there was even detailed documants in reference to her divorce proceedings! I was in awe so I googled my name as soon as I got home. I found quite a bit more info on there than I expected about me. Even an article I had written for a writters website. Have you ever googled your name? If not..try it and tell us what you find.

Yes I have. There's not much about me. I haven't for a while though. I think I'm going to and see if there's more. The only thing I found before was an article about my school's GSA because I was in the club and they took our picture, so I had expected that.

As I checked my Identity the first 29 of 30 articles of about 867 were of my own writings. This is much better than the last time I checked which resulted in a much higher number of results.
As for my name...
My first name resulted in about 130,000,000 results, none of which I've seen having anything to do with me...
My first and last name resulted in 1,160,000 hits the white pages were most interesting...
First and last name with my middle initial produced 89,700 results
First middle and last names in full produced 107,000 results. Two links in the first ten are connected to me personally and the only links out of the first 50 that I could have chosen to view.
Two in the top ten using my full name and a lot using my identity...

I've never done this before now. It's quite interesting. I wasn't able to find anything under my maiden name, and only a few things under my married name. Not too much though. Just my Facebook page and a few articles that have my name in them. Nothing of any importance. I guess that's a really good thing. I wouldn't want too mych information about myself on the internet! That could get people in trouble!

I've done a search on my name and I'm amazed that anything comes up at all. Nothing about myself pops up, but there are other women with the exact same spelling as my name and that is what I find amazing! LOL!

I did and was pleasantly surprise that everything is being listed there including all the license of businesses that I have and all the social sites that am in. Facebook top the list and found out that I have a person somewhere in this world sharing the same name and surname as me. And she is a member of facebook.

This is a good question. My answer to that is yes I've tried googling my name before for the fun of it. My name is a bit odd and unique in a way. But the information that came up is funny because my name is reference to a certain game sort or even a male's name. My name is misspelled out along and I am shocked at how many people have my name. I don't like my name from the start but to see many people having the same trouble I have with this name is quite some news to me.

I did it just now after reading your post, in the first page of results i got my facebook profile and a few exam results from my university. Nothing too personal, considering i had to sign a paper to give the university the right to make public the results. (getting the results offline would have been quite complex)

No, I don't recall ever doing this before this discussion. So I tried it to see what would happen. A couple of links come up for social networking sites that I'm on. Other than that, that's about it. There are well over 600,000 results for my name, but apparently they are for other people that have my name or names that are similar to mine (at least the ones that I saw). It's just as well because I wouldn't want my information that easy to get to.

Kinda scary isn't it? I did...and found out somethings about myself, that even I didn't know! Gettting back to your later discussion about loaning vehicles, I found out that I (Huh?) offered to rent my truck to the Capital Regional District here for "Scotch Broom" removal and hauling! HUH? I then tracked down the source of this info, to find out that some-one (Iknow who) wanted the Contract, and in order to get it, said they had the use of my TRUCK! This entry came from the minutes of the CRD meeting! Caught that RAT in his own trap! LOL!

Did you do it just now or before you read this discussion? It is scary at the info out there. My friend found her divorce details! Like a court order that talked about financial agreements between her and her ex. No way I would want everyone to know that. Thanks for responding.

Well it turns out to be funny. Sometimes we think that who would have listed a web page by our name or containing our name? But those who use facebook must be aware that it asks whether your details be published or not and you have the option to choose. I goggled my name and found my facebook profile along with the facebook and other social networking sites profiles of other folks having same name as mine. Well the results for images tend to be little bit of funny an done can enjoy a lite moment of laughter seeing people in different size shape and color having same name as you . And yes they may be even sharing your surname and in some cases even the middle name. In the end this is bit funny and gives you something to be enjoyed with in a normal hectic routine in front of computer especially for those who use computers for their work. But one can also feel proud about it as boast of it to your friends or in case of my country like India to his village folks who will be surprised at how their dear fellas name has creeped up over the internet.

Oh yes..we must be aware of our options where publishing is concerned. It does make me feel good that I have articles displayed on there. I have a myspace but my options are set to private on there. It is neat to see who all shares your name. You should try typing your name in to youtube. You will be amazed at the things you will find on there. Try it and let me know what you find..lol..it will be fun. Thanks for responding and welcome to myLot.

Come on, everyone did it at least once...
When I did the first time some very old school stuff came out. Recently I can find something about where I work, that I am a member of my student's association and some projects I did for the university... that's cool!
Oh yeah, and then the facebook profile!

Hi squeezeme! Check out the responses..lol..you'd be surprised at us that had never thought of it before. I recently searched my name on youtube as well because I read that people who were searching their roots were using youtube. You should try that as well if you haven't yet. It's kind of fun. If you do,let us know what you find. Thanks for responding.
