Java is the most in demand programming language as of this time. Its an object based programming language. But for me, all programming concept and logic are the same. They differ only in syntax. So ones you have mastered one language it will be easy for you to adjust and learn a new programming language.

Java is popular because it can runs on any platform. So simply it's platform free. No matter what kind of platform you have use, you can run java applications. It's different with another language which platform dependant. I hope this short explanation helpful for you. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

I think some languages are very effective for different purposes, for example, Java could be fine for develop multiplatform applications, but the user interfaces are not really pretty. When you develop desktop application, Microsoft.net is a good option.

I like C# more as I come from a C background and moving on to a managed world, C# is very similar to whatever I have learned. Talking about the future, I will place the bet on C# rather than Java. Not that I am saying Sun is a bad company but then Microsoft is good and nearly only good in one thing: Force out its competitors. If you can remember, when Internet is just around, almost all people use Netscape and IE is just a new joiner. We all know what it turns out to be. Then, there is Microsoft Word against Wordpress. Outlook and Exchange vs Lotus Notes. Microsoft is clever enough to build something and keep on building it until most people use it. C#, I will say is heading something very similar as 4.0 is already under development.
