The subject tells it.Who is your choice on the best female tennis player in your opinion and why? As for me, it's pretty hard to choose cause I know that most of them are really great. But I remember when I was young that I've used to idolize Anna Kournikova. She's gorgeous too.:)

As far as active players, I think it's Serena Williams. But then again she only plays when she wants to play just like her sister. The others like Sharapova, Ivanovic and Jankovic aren't consistent enough for me to consider them to be the best. Safina may be number one right now in the rankings but she's never won a major. I don't think that women's tennis is as good as it was a few years ago. That's why Serena can show up whenever she wants to and win. Heck, I think Henin could come out of retirement right now with no warm up matches and win the French Open.

Are you talking about current female tennis player or all time? Tennis in the old days was better than the tennis being played now. For now, the best tennis player has to be Serena Williams. She is a multiple grand slam winner and is one of the best tennis players of all time along with her sister.

I would have to go with Steffi Graf. She is an all around player and very smart when she's on the court. Her forehand is a killer :) There was even a year when she won all four major grandslam titles as well as the Olympic gold medal. She's definitely one of the best.
Other female tennis players worth mentioning are Justine Henin and Kim Clijsters.

I think Graff and Navratilova must be the best female players. Among the players who currently compete, I choose Sharapova and Williams sisters ( I don't like much the latter because they play too physically but they're really good). But I never appreciate your idol, sorry to say so, but I think her place is on the catwalk rather than on court. And even on the catwalk, she can't be comparable with the professional model.
