I can not remember ever being on one but I am sure that I have when I was a kid. It is the beginning of the summer season here soon and the carnivals will be out soon... we just had one here in my city and it also starts off the farmers market season here....it is provided by our city hall... and they had all the usual rides.but I am curious, have you ever been on a ferris wheel....did you like it...will you do it again.... or are you afraid of heights and have no desire to go on one?

there are different rides here too since it's summer. when i was a kid im fond of having those rides in a carnival. but there was one instnace when one of the rides accidentally fell off and it scared us all a lot. since then we were not allowed by our parents to have these rides.

flagella... that is very scary and that would not make me want to get on one again too... I dont blame your parents for keeping you away from the rides... that is always in the back of my mind too with those rides.... thanks for the response.

That's really terrible. I love to take the Ferris Wheel as I can have a really good view on it. But about your experience, now I am kind of scared to take it again. Hope that accident never happens any more.

I used to go on them all the time when I was a kid. About 3 years ago I was away for the weekend with my daughter and we were at an amusement park. I went on the giant ferris wheel with her and some friends and it was not a pleasant experience. I basically had a major panic attack and it was so frightening! It was nighttime which never had scared me in the past but the seat was moving around and the ride kept stopping to let people on and off. It was torture! I never considered myself to be afraid of heights but I guess people change! never ever again will I go on one.

I hope you do better than I did! I felt like I got "old" or something. I was such a daredevil when I was a kid, I went on all the scary, crazy rides. Maybe being a mom changes you? I don't know but I sure didn't like my kid laughing at me calling me "scaredy cat:...LOL!!!

yes, I had often experienced riding on the feris wheel when I was younger. I can vividly remember the last ferris wheel ride I went on. My beloved and I had taken a trip to a large amusement park for a weekend.... there is was, tall and lovely all lit up against the night sky. It was such a romantic gesture that the two of us would lull about on the swaying seats gently rocking as the ferris wheel made its graceful rotations.... THEN we were at the top..... and ZAP ZING
lightening was striking! thankfully it did not strike the ride - but it sure was close and we could not get off that contraption fast enough.

Yes I've been on a ferris wheel a number of times and would again in a heart beat! Although I'm very fearful of heights, the view that you get to see when at the top really takes your breath away and very much worth the while to do it. I would take a paper bag with you as well as a plastic one just in case you get sick but you really should be ok and you won't ever forget it.

I'd been in a ferris wheel when I was on my 2nd year high school. I am with my classmate, perhaps she noticed I was so uneasy that she kept on talking to me, just to divert my attention with other things. I felt my intestines are turning upside down and am just so restless waiting for it's another cycle. Thanks God I was able to finish the time due and promise myself I won't ever try riding the ferris wheel again.

Hello!
I have been on a Ferris Wheel once, and it was horrible. Just like in every story, the Ferris wheel broke down while we were riding it, and we were stuck there for 2 hours! It was terrible. I never went on another Ferris Wheel after that again!

What a terrible thing to happen on your very first ferris wheel ride. That kind of experience would surely scare the hell out of anyone.

I've been on it a several times. The biggest one was in America in six flags great adventure. It was crazy to see all those giant rollercoasters around and the tallest one in the world- kingda ka was just sticking up above the all and it was much bigger than the ferries wheel.

Yes, I have been on a ferris wheel. It's been a while, though. I haven't been on a ferris wheel, since I was a kid. I vaguely remember going on it, and such. I think that I might do it again, but I'm really not sure, because I feel uncomfortable around heights.

Yes...many times already. I love riding ferris wheel. Unlike others who are afraid of height, I love riding ferris wheel since this is the only way I can be as high as possible from the ground. I love high places. Sometimes, in a building, I will go on a rooftop just to see things around me and being in a ferris wheel enables me to do it. Buildings in my place is not really that high and has no rooftop so I take the opportunity to ride ferris wheel to enjoy the beauty around me. Security is an issue for me whenever riding a ferris wheel so I only ride those that has been tested to be secure and cannot be dis-assemble.

Yes, I've been on a ferris wheel a few times in my life. But I haven't been on one since I was a kid though. Actually, believe it or not, there's not any around where I live to get on anyway. Unless the circus comes to my town which isn't very often. But I do remember liking it when I was a kid.

I dont think we have many by us either but when the carnivals come to town you get a smaller version of the ferris wheels sometimes at them... that is the only ones I know of... but I have learned of so many around the world --it is amazing to find that out!!
thanks for the response.

Yes,I have, and I loved it. Many people don't like the ferris wheel because, like you said, they are afraid of heights. But for me, it is very relaxing. I like it best when I'm on the top because then I could feel the cool breeze and see lots of things underneath me. Of course, it all depends on the ferris wheel that you ride.

oh boy does it depend on where the ferris wheel is... if it is a scenic place then yes... what a view, but if it is in a parking lot at the local mall...not very exciting... thanks for the response.

I have been on a ferris wheel before even though I am a little bit scared of heights. There was this one time when I went on some rocking cabin on the ferris wheel and this ride was too much for me. It made me feel nauseous with all those furious swaying back and forth. I had no choice but to endure it for about twenty minutes before the ride eventually finished. It was a miracle I did not puke in the cabin or else the people waiting in line would be disgusted and a whole lot of problesm would arise. I think I will just stick with the normal kind of ferris wheel from now on.

oh I am glad you didnt puke either... but I have to say that I have!! it was in junior high and we were at a carnival... a friend and I were on a ride and stayed on for several times... the food we ate before that decided not to stay down... and as soon as the ride was over... I went running for cover...only I didnt and lost my fries and whatever else we ate in front of a bunch of kids from school.... oh I was so embarrassed!!
thanks for sharing that!!

I go to carnival but i had never been to a ferris wheel. I rode a roller coaster, some river log, flying carpet but i have never rode a ferris wheel. The last time i went to star city one of the well know amusement park here in the Philippines, there is a long line for the ferris wheel ride and then it is my turn to try the ride for the first time, unfortunately, it began to rain and ride was closed for security purpose. After then until now i haven't rode a ferris wheel.

Oh, yes!I love to ride a ferris wheel. I used to ride one every time I went to the fair or any amusement park for that matter. I still like to ride one occasionally but I can't afford to spend much money these days. I like the way they light up the sky at night. I remember I rode the ferris wheel at the amusement park on the miracle strip down in Panama City, Florida the year I graduated high school. It stopped on the top with me and I had the most beautiful view of the ocean from up there!
