HI, I know technology is really cool and everyone has their own cell phone. Most of them are using text message, even my dad. Yes, my Dad know how to text message too and he is 63 years old .
I thought only young adult know how to do this thing but when it comes to my dad, I just can't believe it. I used to text more than thousands in a day, I was using unlimited text message. But now, I am barely text... I dont know why. I call them better than text. I know most of you will choose text, but why? it is convenience? What make you text instead of call?
I am sure you might text or chat through your phone too right? Please share

hi smileonstar :)
Before I usually text a lot. As we all know, texting is cheaper than making a call, so i think that what made me text alot.. keeping in touch with my loved ones in an affordable way. My parent's are even teasing me that my thumb would get big if I don't stop texting a lot. xDD Just like your dad,( but my dad just turned 60, oh well senior citizen!) is also fond of texting, but he usually calls instead if he's lazy to text. Right now, I usually do calls rather than text, I think it's just a phase of technology.. When everyone had their very fist mobile phone, one thing that they would do is text, and I think eventually, people would start preferring to call their friends or family instead of text. I became lazy texting.. i dunno why. Maybe I just ended my texting way and evolved to calls.
happy mylotting :)

Yeah! It's more economical and interesting too. I use to text my friends whenever I feel bored. It's great fun. It's also economic. If I call them and chat for hours, then I've to pay a lot. But if I just text them, it cost me nothing, because for me, sms is free!

Yeah, same problem with my network also. They charge extremely high for international messages and calls. It's better to choose call rather than a text, in the case of international interaction!

As much as I would like to call those that I want to talk to, I have to resort to texting as it is more affordable. And it is kind'a discreet compared to a ringing phone, especially when the one that you are calling is actually in a situation that demands silence (^_^")
If calling were not that expensive here in our country, I'd probably call those that I want to talk to.. so I end up just contacting them with short messages that would go long back and forth. Count to think of it, it would be faster to talk and have all the details given compared to sending messages through SMS..
Then again, if they are those that I really want to talk to, I would really like to talk to them for a long time.. I would enjoy that, I think.. (^_^ )

I know some country is cheap on texting and expensive on calling... however in america, texting is cheap and also call... but I do text only out of the country and they charge me 0.15cents in and another 0.15 cents out going... so it costs almost the same thing like I call...

Hello smileonstar,
I still prefer calling rather than texting. In fact, I am a bit slow to text. I don't know how youngsters can do it very fast with their fingers. Most of my friends can even texting while driving which till now, I can't do it. I have to stop the car at the road side if I really, really need to text someone urgently. If not, I can't do both correctly - driving and texting!

Before i really do text more than phone calls..i even use unlimited text..but as i go to work i never use unlimited text..I text my girlfriend and call her..even at i work for every break time if she has free time also i call her..i don't use unlimited calls because we don't have much time to call each other..my phone isn't video phone compatible but next time i'll buy one for me and for my girlfriend so we have time to see each other every phone calls.

I love the texting facility because I have friends who love to talk a lot and I am a very busy person so a quick text saves me hours on the phone! Of course texting is also cheaper than phone calls. I am a little older so I don't text as much as a teenager would, only one or two a day is my average. I like sending photos to my friends via my mobile too!

It depends what I want to say or find out. I text more than call because i don't multitask well and can only do one thing when I'm on the phone and thta's talk! haha, So I prefer texting except when I need information fast, then I don't like to wait around for the other person to get back to me or wonder if they saw the message. Also, I sometimes need to judge things based on their tone of voice, so I will call them to see what's really going on.

I'm more on texting that initiating a call.
Texting is more affordable than initiating a call unless you are using a promo call.
I also seldome use the call in my mobile since I can use our office line to call someone over mobile.

HI smile, I too found technology really cool. I can't even imagine a life without cell phones. Everyone has the right to use it. Even my dad use it and sometimes read my girlfriends messages :-). Not thousands as its not free in my case, but i can say if i am not in a mood to talk, i prefer using text. At times text is good. suppose you have are late in class and you have to ask a colleague whether you should enter the class or not, then will you use call?

I use texting more than calling because it is less expensive. I can save when I use text message. even if you will be texting for 30 minutes you will not pay as much as you call for 30 minutes.. Therefore I choose to text unless it is an emergency, I have to call but for casual talking? I just text.

For some reason, text messages feel like impersonal to me... I know you can do a lot with messages that come across friendly but as for me, there's nothing like hearing a person's voice... Sometimes because of work reasons, I do send & receive messages through phones... Sometimes when I'm busy, my girl friend does send me messages, not to disturb me & so I can read it whenever I'm free... It has it's place in communication but still, I prefer calling over text messages...

I agree with you most of the part here... I am slow on typing on the phone now... may be im too old for this or sth. It is just can't move my fingers to type fast back. however, I love to hear people voice too... so then I know how they feel when they are talking to me

I actually e-mail more often than i text and call. I think it's probably because I'm lazy to call anyone and with technology all advance these days, you can just sent an e-mail. It has more avaiblable space and you can provide a picture or two free of charge. It more convienent for me because I'm surrounded by computers all day. If I was to answer your question, I call more than text. With texting you're wasting more money mine as well call the person to listen to their voice.

I think i probably text just a little bit more than I actually call people. Most of the time, the reason I need to get a hold of someone is just a quick question. So, instead of interrupting their day with a phone call, I send a text. What I've noticed, is that people tend to reply faster by texting back than if they have to call back with an answer.

I agree with you also. Sometimes, I text msg my husband when he doesn't pick up my call... so I thought he might talking to someone or busy with something that couldn't pick up my call. Text him and he will call me back right the way.

Sending a massage is convinience for me to comunicate with others.Because when I give somebody a call.I donot know what he is doing,in order not to disturb him.I send a message. If what I want to say is troublesome,Texting a message is wast time.I will call him.It is my idea.
