Is Racism Still "Around" Today? And If So, Where?

Being a racial mix, I get this question all the time, but thought it best to bring it up with other people as well.
I evidently have my own individuals, as I still am called the n-word from time to time, or am still given weird, "suspicious" looks whenever I cross the streets. Occasionally (which this can be rather funny), I'll have someone come up to me and shake my hand, saying they're "proud to be an American, just so proud."
What are you opinions? Any personal experiences in this matter? Have you seen anyone ELSE experience racism, and what were the post-effects? List your opinions/experiences here.

Hello FreshWriting, Racism is still around. I am a gamer who plays alot of Gears of War 2 on my XBOX 360 and everyday I get called the n word or some racial slur at least 4 times a day. It really start to piss me off. I had started a topic on it as well. The won't say it to my face so they say it all day on XBOX Live. Happy myLotting!

Hello Caskins!
Hah- I know what you mean...god! It's SO damn annoying.
Hey, what's your gamertag? It'd be great to play with you- I too enjoy such games (have you by any chance played COD4 or Godfather 2?).
I won't spam you, I promise (believe me, I've been there), or call you racial terms, as I too get those, or any other annoying factor...
Let me know if you're interested!

Of course, racism will probably always be around, as long as people don't see everyone as equals. Which they probably never will. The problem around here is not only racism, it's that people of other countries / races / etc. will call certain things racism way too quickly. I can understand why it happens, but that also makes it hard to let everyone be equals. For example, when you say something to someone of the same country as you, your reply might be 'mean' while saying the exact same thing to someone originally of another country will be called racism.
Hope anyone understands what I'm trying to say.
Anyway, I dissaprove of racism but I'm afraid it will always stay around.

I see what you're getting at here, don't worry...:)
From my point of view, racism can also be used as an excuse- an excuse to blow people off, an excuse to why you're feeling so "down" or "oppressed" or "depressed." So many people overuse the term and become artificially sensitive over comments (e.g., why the hell would you say that? It's because you're white, isn't it? Or it's because you're black, isn't it? Etc. etc.).
Nice response! I agree with you there.
