I just signed up with Ciao.com and I posted 3 reviews and I learned that you don;t make money from every review? I am confused as to how to earn money on there.
Are their any experienced ciao members on here that can explain to me? How much do you usually make? Do you get paid for every review? Fill me in please. I dont want to waste my time. Thanks

It's a good site. You don't make money by posting a review, you earn money when other people rate you. In return, you should rate other people so they can make money.
To get the most from Ciao, be sure to:
-Write your own reviews, no Plagiarism!
-Primarily focus on writing your own opinions, not a list of specs
-Don't revenge rate, this can get you banned
-Run your reviews through a spelling and grammar checker, this will result in higher ratings
-Be patient, Ciao is not a place to make a quick buck.
I have earned over $30 but it has taken a few months. I recently won the topic of the month, and got $10 for one review. Ciao rocks! (Despite the high levels of abuse that the site has suffered over the past 8 months)

What exactly is a "revenge rating"? I saw a message about that today and I didn't know what it meant. Also, my name on there is missluvlie, so add me if you want and we can rate each other.
I could use some new friends on there. Thanks.
Thanks for responding.

Good advice! I never bothered with researching who I added to my friends list but maybe I will do that. I didnt think that it mattered.
I havent recieved a bad review yet. Although some of them are in broken English and have a really hard time understanding.
I haven't given a bad review yet either. If it is real horrible, I just dont rate it at all.
LOL

A revenge rate is where you rate a person back with a low rating just because you don't like the rating they gave you. It is important to take the low ratings and hopefully the comments left with them as constructive criticism. I got this in the beginning a lot and it has really helped me improve my reviews.
One good thing is that you can always edit your reviews and fix any problems or add more info.
Another thing with Ciao, you have to be careful who you add as a friend. Check their statistics to see if they are rating people back. If their ratings received is a lot more than their ratings given, then you probably should not add them. I also check a member's reviews before adding them, and if they are all of low quality then I reject the friend request.
Hope this is helpful. I will look up your reviews soon.

As someone who's been on the Ciao UK site since 2002 and the US site since mid 2008 I hope I can answer your query correctly. Not ALL reviews earn you money on Ciao. If you write a product review you will receive money for each positive rating you receive, i.e. a H, VH or E rating. You do not get paid for negatives ratings, i.e. SH, NH or OT ratings. If you write a Ciao cafe review, such as "topics beginning with A" or "member advice on buying a car" you do not earn money for ratings, just community points.
If you have a read of the Help Pages, it's all explained quite clearly - this page might give you more of an insight into payment terms over there: http://www.ciao.com/faq.php/Id/2/Idx/5/Idy/1
It is important to know that if you write the first review of a product (i.e. a review on a product that hasn't yet been reviewed) you will earn double the amount per rating for a month from the day you submitted the review. There have, though, been too many jokers on the site who have been hunting around for products without reviews and writing fake reviews on them, i.e. reviews which are copied or made up (I can tell very easily from reading a review if the author has actual personal experience of the product or is just making it up from looking it up on another website) and this sort of behaviour has led to Ciao recent drastic (but justified in my opinion) action of banning several countries from the site. Those from banned countries that are getting in through back doors are wasting their time, honest writers will eventually be let back in as far as I can see but if you get banned for abuse, you get banned for good.
I hope you enjoy using Ciao and use it as it's meant to be used - that way you'll hopefully be a long term and valued member of the site :)

Thanks for explaining all of that to me. It was very informative.
I am pretty new to the site, but I am picking up pretty quickly who is on there to scam it.
You can usually tell the fake ones.
This may sound bad, because there is no politically correct way to say this but I am not trying to sound mean..but I am already tired of people on there who cannot even write a correct sentence in english, trying to add me saying "Dear Friend...please rate me and add me to your trusted friends." And their reviews SUCK! lol.
Thanks for responding.

You can only earn money at Ciao if other members read your reviews. You only earn Community Points when you write reviews which in turns determines your Community Level. The point now here is you need to get a lot of friends (and build relationship with them as your readers)... read their reviews and probably someone will read your reviews and makes you money. The more reviews you have the more reads you'll get. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the response. I have been reading up on the FAQs so I am learning a little bit more now. Its just hard to review the paying products when most of the ones that pay are products that the normal individual does not use.

Hi queenlove. I used to be a member at Ciao but now I can't open my account anymore because I came from Asian country which I heard Ciao stop accepting members from Asian countries. Ciao didn't pay per review now you can only earn from ratings you get. When you write reviews some members will read and will give ratings to your review examples of ratings are exceptional, very helpful, helpful, not helpful and out of topic. For every rate that your reviews will get you will earn between .01 to .03 cents. In order to get more reviews try to have more friends there rate their reviews and definitely they will rate back your reviews too. You will never waste time at Ciao because Ciao is very legit and trusted paying site. You just need to do your works and try to get more ratings to earn more. Good luck. Happy mylotting friend.

Well I just joined last night and already made 95 cents. I dont know if that is good or bad.
The trouble is that the product reviews that pay money are all things that nobody uses. LOL.
Thanks for the response.

Thanks for the information. I am still a little bit confused but understand what you are saying. Basically, as long as I am active on there then I will earn money.
What did you mean about them being a sensitive site?

You simply don't make much money from ciao. You must make connection with other members to increase your viewings points. Otherwise, they won't pay you a penny. Don't waste your time on ciao, they won't pay you much money anyway.
