I prefer manual washing than washing machines

I thought I'd found a perfect partner in a washing machine that does everything...all I do is push some buttons, and presto water comes out, detergent, fabric conditioner and all. After several try's however, I discovered that there are some clothes with streaks of white, apparently from the detergent which do not melt inside the machine. So after the last chore of spin drying, I have a few pants, clothes, shorts which need to be taken out and hand washed as the machine is unable to completely rinse off the soap, and leaves ugly white marks on the clothes. What about you? Do you prefer hand washing just like me? Of course since the machine is within easy reach, we could not just dispense of it, but had to redo some of its job. Anyone who has had a similar experience?

I am different. I don't like washing by hands because it is a tiring housework. I don't want to waste my time to washing clothes. We put everything into the washing machine and it will finish all the washing. I don't want to buy any clothes which need to wash by hands.
I love China

That's true...with a fast paced world we are in, we just have to rely on a washing machine...

Washing m achines tend to leave the cuffs and collars dirty, and one has to wash them manually before putting them in the machine. I usually wash my delicate clothes by hand only because the harsh rotation of the machine tears them to shreds. I think its ok to wash small clothes like underwear and napkins in a washing machine, the rest is better washed by hand. Yes, even for rinsing, we need a lot of water and has to rinsed twice to get the soap out. Nothing better than hand washed clothes. They come out cleanrer, and we are careful with our delicates.Totally agree with you.

What about towels and tea towels and sheets? You're not going to tell me you wash those by hand? I live alone and do everything in the machine. I don't waste water because I do a full load when I wash or I set the water level at low or medium. I pre-wash stains but I still throw them into the machine. I've never, ever had a washing machine tear my clothes...delicates or not...that's ???? Either you have a horrible washing machine or cheap, low quality delicates. How awful for you.

Have you ever tried liquid laundry detergent? I find that it mixes well with the water much better than the powder and doesn't leave those white marks. The brand that I use is liquid Wisk and I've been using it for years. It's the fabric softener that I have problems with and if I don't put a cap full of water in the dispenser first then I'll have these dark stains on my clothes. I use the brand name Downy. I put a cap full of water in first then a cap full of downy and then another cap full of water to help not get the dark stains. Hope this helps! Good luck!

That's a good suggestion, a liquid detergent. I'll scour the supermarket for the brand you're recommending. Happy washing, LOL!

It took me some time but I finally realized hand washing my jackets, purses, and socks it better. Im gonna start washing my dress clothes because the washing machine messes them up. i live at an apt so I have to pay and it gets costly when you have to have a washer for "cottons" "gentle wash" "medium wash". I guess it felt like more work and just another chore but I will continue handwashing because it actually makes things easier. The socks have to be handwashed because unless you douse them with bleach the washer is not going to get them entirely clean. My kids socks are always really dirty (they refuse to wear slippers).

I have similar experience as you. Looks like the washing machine is not good at washing some little things. I prefer to using the washing machine for the big things, like big coat, quilt cover, and bedspread, etc; as they are really hard to wash it with my little hands. Sometimes, the machine can't wash very clean so that I need to wash it again. Kind of annoying. Anyway, I like manual washing whenever I have time to do it. (@-@)

I don't know manual washing so i prefer to wash clothes in the washing machine.i have a samsung automatic washing machine. It also dries the clothes for me.I just have to keep it in the sun one or two hours to get dried fully. It crushes most of the clothes and tangles it but no problem. When i wear the clothes i will iron it to look smart and tidy.

Hi psyche, I have always preferred hand washing the clothes, but because of convenience i use a washing machine. But once in a while i soak up all the clthes in sop water and later hand wash the clothes and put them out to dry in the sun, i feel that they come out much cleaner..

I wash everything by machine. If you are getting white streaks on your clothes you are probably doing something wrong.
You might be using the wrong soap or detergent. Try changing the brand. Try using the liquid detergent instead. Put the clothes in the washing machine and fill it up with clothes. Then remove all the clothes and start the water. Put in that powder or liquid detergent and then agitate to dissolve the powder or mix the liquid. Do not pour the powder or liquid onto the clothes as it might not dissolve properly.
One of the big problems with the powder not dissolving is putting too many clothes in the machine so that the water does not have a proper chance to circulate. Try using less clothes and adding them loosely.
Be sure to follow the instructions on the package has to how much detergent to add a lot of people just pour it in without measuring. most people simply use too much.
So here are the steps. Fill a washing machine loosely with clothing. Remove. Start the machine so that it starts to fill the water then carefully measure and add powdered detergent or liquid detergent. When you are sure everything is dissolved or mixed you can start adding the clothing.

Hi i use both the ways.you are right about some trousers with stains are hard for the machine to clean, they need hand wash.there is even another reason for me to wash my trousers with my hand.i have heard from somewhere that detergent powders damage the clothes, so it is good to wash them with a detergent cake...

I prefer washing my clothes manual by hand. But it really depends on the fabric, if the fabric is to be washed by hand as per instructions then I'll not include it on the washing machine. Most of my clothes have diff fabric so I read the instructions from the tag and sort them out for avoiding damage on them. Just be sure to read the cleaning instructions before putting your clothes on a washing machine.

i prefer washing machines even though they are not perfect... when i was growing i did all the washing of our clothes, since i am the eldest, and boy do i hate washing clothes by hands... my fingers after im done washing always got wounds, i have 2 sisters, and 1 brother plus my mom and my clothes, im the one that washes them all, so really i hate hand washing.
when washing machine was invented and got its way here in my country, i was wishing that my mom would have the money to buy it and my wish did come true, we had a washing machine, and it made my life easier...
now i really depend on washing machine for washing clothes... the whites i soak first in a good powder detergent for thirty minutes before putting them in the washer.
if i get to choose on household appliances, between gas stove and washing machine, i'd choose washing machine as it is ok for me to cook on charcoal or wood.

i forgot to add... that soaking of whites before putting in washer surely takes off all dirt on it after it has gone through the washer.
as for rinsing, that's the one i do by hand, i used to do the rinsing on the washer too and had no problem with it, no sopa streaks or whatever when im done, but when our electricity got high, i opt to rinse by hand to save on electricity.

Hello,
I only prefer manual washing, when it comes down to under clothing, for all my other laundry I will have to say the machine plays a big role.

hmm maybe you've added too much washing powder? it used to happen to me when i pour in a full cup of washing powder. after this happened for a few times, i called the manufacturer. i was advised that half a cup of washing powder is quite enough. even since then i only used half a cup of washing powder. my clothes come out clean and doesn't have the white marks anymore. you might want to try that too.

Hello psyche49f,
I have the same problem too. Before this, I had a semi auto washing machine where I have to wash first, and then put the clothes for spinning and etc manually. When my machine broke down, I thought of getting a fully auto washing machine to make thing easier for me. Unfortunately though the machine stated it needs 26 minutes for quick wash, it always take more than an hour to finish. Sometimes, I do get white marks on the clothes which my husband complains a lot whenever it happens to his clothes.

I prefer washing machine. It's convenient and you don't have to tire yourself just to wash your clothes. But I rinse the clothes by hand and hung them to save on electricity. Underwears are the only ones that I hand wash.

I don't prefer hand washing. I just simply don't have enough time for it. I would however be severely disappointed if I got a "dream" washing machine such as yours and it didn't perform. It sounds fabulous and I'm sure it wasn't cheap. What a let down. At least you enjoy washing by hand so it's not creating a task you despise.
