Music you like that's a little out of character

I always say that my taste in most things is eclectic. This is true with my taste in music. I usually go for heavier stuff, some classic rock, some glam rock, some punk, some grunge, some geek rock, but I also go for classical pieces, acoustic folk, etc. Still, people are usually really surprised to learn that I love... Barry Manilow. :) It's my mom's influence. I can't help it, lol. Do you listen to music that is so not you?

Hmm, that's pretty eclectic too. Is Kundiman a band or the musical genre? If you mean the genre, then that pretty much stands out right there. Thanks for the reply. :)

Hello there. Kundiman is a Filipino music genre, mostly courting songs, influenced by spanish music arrangement. Performed by classical voice, and classical instruments. Yeah, it's pretty eclectic, and it's quite labeled 'music for the old timers' hehehhe. But kundiman is highly educative material for me. Thanks.

My musical tastes are so insanely widespread that I'm not sure that anything could really be taken as being particularly out of character, with one exception--I typically abhor rap, but there are a couple select rap songs that I like, more for the message and because they verge on the edge of a rap/R&B fusion.

I don't care much for rap either, but there are some that you just can't get out of your head and you somehow end up liking them. Like Black Eyed Peas, while I may never admit to being a fan, I actually have them on my iPod.:)

Yes I do. Most of the regional movies here in regional languages do not have good songs and lyrics that you can listen to. So most of the times I'm listening to Rock, Hip Hop and Pop. But sometimes, there are songs from those regional movies that are really good, but don't usually represent my image. I listen to such music sometimes and surprisingly, I enjoy it. bourne

I guess there are always exceptions to the rule. No point in limiting one's self anyway. Thanks for the reply. :)

I am FORCED to listen to music that ain't me. My dad is bathroom singer, and my PC is located in the room adjacent to it. And every morning I have to listen to his "melodious" voice, that drives me crazy. Even if he sings songs that I like, i start hating it the next moment. Hah Ha!! So I do listen to music that certainly isn't me. Thanks to dad.
