Do you use it for social networking, reconnecting with old school friends, game playing, business networking, dating, job searches?
How often do you visit? I admit it, I'm addicted to it; however, I'm currently working on my 20th high school reunion and spend a lot of time researching old classmates. I also have a very spread out family and use it to reconnect while saving money. I also like playing a few specific games--mostly to destress but also to make new friends around the country.
So how do you use Facebook and are you addicted?

Through Facebook, I've been able to reconnect with former schoolmates I wasn't able to contact for our reunions as well as an old boyfriend or two (nothing sleezy, people) and others from the different periods of my life. It's really neat. I also love Farm Town. Finally a way I can enjoy a farm without killing every living green thing around me!!!

I know, I know, it's nothing sleezy (I reconnected with an old boyfriend--and sold him Girl Scout cookies on MySpace!). It's great for reconnecting for reunions, but as my best friend said earlier today, I'm close to those I want to remain close to. So maybe after this reunion I'll start quietly removing folks...most of them are in another, employed world!
As for Farm Town, I get so many gifts that I have to constantly sell stuff after harvesting...I'd really like some palm and coconut trees, but only one neighbor is that far advanced!

Sadly, I don't think so! As I mentioned, my 20th reunion is coming up and with everyone feeling nostalgic (or else we want another excuse to drink!), we've been having get-togethers every month. At the last one I participated in, some of the girls were a bit frosty to me--I THOUGHT THOSE DAYS WERE OVER! Now others, especially one girl I've know most of my life, were warm and friendly. One former classmate of mine on FB doesn't talk to me...I think he's got 'issues'--that's HIS problem! Honestly, it's 20 years later and I'm with someone else--did he think I was going to hold a torch for him or something?

Oh, I'll keep them as long as they'll have me, even if we don't interact regularly. It's kind of nice seeing what people have been up to after this many years - even people who I didn't pal around with in school. We're all grown ups now - or should be, right?

Hello scorpiobabes!!!
Well I open the facebook every time and keep my logging on to it. And currently too, there is my facebook account logged in in the another tab. And may be you understood already that I use the facebook mostly for chatting. Most of my old school friends are there on the facebook, and also it is giving me a platform to make many new friends. Mostly I get involved in the discussions there among the friends group. I rarely post in other discussions than friends there, because the response is too slow there. It feels bored to logging to the discussion every time to check if there is response, and get sad to see no any responses.
Most of my friends keep using the applications, games there. But I rarely use them. And there are most of the invitations pending to me, which I don't like to accept and just ignored them.
Also my interest in facebook is looking the photos of the friends and commenting them in a interesting way. Also I upload my own photos too and I feel very much glad to get a comment over my photos. This is another feature of the facebook, that keeps me using it daily.
Well this much with facebook. I am glad to share my experience here...Keep mylotting and see you again...Have nice time...

I like to use facebook for chatting; I only have 200 text messages a month with my current phone plan, so I only use it for emergencies.
I can't really chat here--even with a high-speed connection, it seems that my computer is so far behind! It's getting better, but not much. But like you, I like seeing the photos my friends post--I feel like I'm still able to take part in their daily life! Thanks for sharing!

I play a lot of games on facebook, as well as attend school online. I also have an online extension to my business as the result of some server upgrades, so I'll be concentrating more there too. I really need to learn to not spread myself too thin, otherwise, I'll never get anything accomplished!

But the problem is that I don't find many friends online in the facebook. Not all my friends have the internet service now, that's why I keep logged in, with the hope to meet them and have a talk...
I don't understand why your computer is not good for chatting when you can use it for viewing the photos. Do you mean to say you are busy in other works than chatting?
Thanks for commenting...

But how do you use it--for games, talking to friends, talking to families, dating? Please be a bit more specific--I am on Facebook all the time when not at work or school, but I do use it for a variety of reasons. Thanks and please share--we'd love to hear more!

I use Facebook and I go to Facebook several times a day but I don't really look up old friends or even family members. I just enjoy going to Facebook every day.

Do you like to play games sharla? What sorts of games do you like? So far, people have mentioned Mafia Wars, Farm Town, Restaurant City (I just started it yesterday and I'm hooked), but I also like Scramble and Pathwords (brain challenges!).

I usually play games, do quizzes and reconnect with my friends. Facebook also allows me to join groups and learn about what they are doing.

I've found some of the quizzes written by others to be quite silly, but games like Who Has The Biggest Brain?, Scramble, and Pathwords are great brain teasers and keep me on my toes! Some of the causes are quite close to my heart, so I try to use my vast network of friends to add power to those that mean a lot to me!

I use it for several things: gaming, reconnecting with friends, keeping family/friends updated, snooping on ppl I know (lol), getting updates from businesses/celebrities/shows I'm interested in, sharing photos, etc. I even have a page for my business on there.
I didn't truly become addicted, and start checking every day, until I discovered the gaming appplications. Farm Town, Restaurant City, 101 Eggs, and Sorority Life are a few of my favorites.

I also snoop on folks I know (much more interesting than on those I don't know, though I've gotten involved in some interesting conversations!;). I've been going through old photographs (my mother was terrible at putting them into albums, so they're in a lot of boxes at the moment) and posting them! I was one goofy looking kid, but I'm just philosophical now.
As for the gaming apps, it took me a while to play Mafia Wars (I was playing Mob Wars but no one really joined); I play MW, Farm Town (Farmville was tedious for me), Hatchery (I reached my goal of 30k points but now I'm just playing for fun); I just started Roller Coaster Kingdom and Fish World. And Bejeweled Blitz!

I'd LIKE to use Facebook to wipe my own butt on a daily basis, but being online and all makes that impossible. I'm most deinitely not addicted to it and can't stand the site. I've been poked, prodded, sheeped, flowered, gifted, slapped, rainforested, fish tanked, mafia'd and God knows what else for as long as I can remember. I spend ages pysching myself up just to log on in and delete all that crap every 10 days or so. That's about as active as I get on there!

I tend to ignore 99.9% of the crap sent to me so I'm as pure as Ivory Snow soap! (LOL, like life would ever be fun!). I don't do the poking--being a woman, I'd rather BE poked (and my poker of choice is completely computer-illiterate!). Right now I'm just sending messages back and forth to my far-flung family, and networking with some business associates. Now if facebook could pay me...I'd be RICH!!!

I use Facebook to occasionally talk to other people. However I tend to use Facebook more for game play. I sometimes talk to friends on there but people from highschool that have me on their profiles I really do not talk to. I just have them there so I can spy on them I guess.

I already spent over half my life with the bulk of my high school 'friends' (we grew up together), so outside of my needing them to help with my reunion (I'm helping find missing students) I really don't talk with them. I've got plenty more friends that are part of my life currently that I don't need these 'relics of the past' to chat with any more...

I have had an account with facebook for a few years now. I can honestly say I am one of them that are addicted. Not only do I love staying in touch with old friends from school and different groups that I have been in over the years. I also like making new friends as well. One of the biggest things that I do on facebook is go and check a group out about a local radio station to get bonus codes, song of the day etc to earn points towards concert tickets and a bunch of cool prizes as well. I have picked up some good concert as well as local events so far. So having facebook and being able to get some extra info on the daily Monday to Friday (song of the day, 4 bonus words and a question of the day) it truly has helped gain all the points that has mae it possible to enjoy different concerts and events locally.

It does sound like you're not truly addicted, especially since you're staying in contact with the world around you! I think that little things like that help to enrich our lives. One of the most important things we can do is keep contact with the real world--helps to nurture our soul.

oh yes i could say i am addicted to it, i find it easier to go around the site and i see more friends and keep track of what is happening in their lives, plus i've found old friends through that site and it is nice keeping in touch with them again. i like it in facebook better than any other networking sites.

I find Facebook much easier to navigate than MySpace. Here, most people either put their photograph or their names so that we can find them easier. Sometimes they even slip up and put in their high school, a former job, or they're friends with someone who will come up during one of my searches for former classmates (it's my 20th this year and I'm helping locate old classmates).

I am not addicted to facebook, well not anymore! I used to be because I stayed there for hours and hours talking to friends and playing. Now I visit facebook when I get a message from a friend or a friend request, otherwise, I am not into it that much. I wasted so much time playing, that if I knew mylot existed before, I would have made some 10 payouts already!!!!!

It's funny--I started on myLot first, but since I've discovered facebook, I have so much fun! I can only utilize facebook with my desktop computer; I can use mylot on my phone (I have an iphone), so I'm making money in bed before I want to get out from under the covers! But I'm back on myLot on my computer with a vengeance--I haven't gotten payout in a LONG time and I'm hungry to do it again!

The games are so much fun! Right now I'm playing Restaurant City (someone in an earlier thread suggested it and it's fun!), but I usually play Mafia Wars and Hatchery. I do like to reconnect with various people I've met in one of my lives as well as family. I've also made some friends through the games I regularly play.

What type of networking do you do--personal or professional? I do a bit of both, but I'm considering opening a second account solely for my job hunt--I used a different last name professionally for many years, and it would make things much easier!

I check facebook more often than I should be. Probably upwards of 20 times per day. I also enjoy creeping, and if you don't know what that is, let me educate you haha! Creeping is when someone just lurks around and finds out excessive information about other people they are friends with. I used to get so bored, I would just browse through my friends pages, and wall posts to see what they were up to a year ago! Ridiculous I know! But now I found myLots and am not as bored anymore.

Thanks for the definition of creeping--I guess you could say I do that too! Actually, I like to keep up with my friends, but some are ones I've known since high school (or earlier) and we no longer have the same connection. It wasn't because I was bored so much; more because I was curious but didn't feel like commenting on every single picture!

I chose to stay home but my dad (who finally learned how to email) lives 800+ miles away, and my sister lives about 1000 miles away. I love being able to share pictures--I even got the Facebook and MySpace apps so I could take pictures and instantly upload them! Thanks for sharing!

I visit Facebook everyday.. it seems that i am hooked on it.. the reason why i visit facebook everyday is because of the fun filled applications/games like pet society and restaurant city.. whilst mylotting, i am playing restaurant city as well.. i can't wait for the next upgrade which is larger restaurant.. i am also addicted to answering quizzes and naming top five favorites... i like facebook more than friendster because there are so many things that i can do aside from checking for friend updates.

Wow, I have heard of Pet Society but not Restaurant City (mental note--go check that out!). I'm a daily player of Hatchery, Farm Town (just got into it), Mafia Wars, Mob Wars and Fishing Tournament.
I never tried Friendster, and I found MySpace really clunky and difficult. I've got to get on LinkedIn, since I'm job searching again....thanks for sharing!

I am so jealous! I wish I wasn't addicted to it, but once I began reconnecting with old friends, I began to look up my family (we pretty much lost touch with my mom's side after her passing seven years ago). Then I began to reconnect with work friends that I only get to see once or twice a year--they're like another family! Trying to keep up with everyone though IS tiring (but fun!). Thanks for sharing.

i check my facebook account at least twice a day. at first, it was just to keep track of the happenings in the lives of my circle of friends. but later i found it as a convenient way of reconnecting with old friends, classmates and colleagues, which just makes sharing bits and pieces of info more exciting. i also learned from friends the joy of playing games and making allies of my friends in games too!and also a fun way of gaining new friends.

I started out a few months ago, reconnecting with people I graduated with. Now I'm using it to reconnect with far-flung family (I'm in NJ--they're in PA/NY/NC/SC/LA so far!) and associates from my company from around the world I only see once or twice a year. Of course, some of those folks from school got me hooked on games like Mafia Wars (I'm a daily player), and introduced me to new friends through those games. I find it's much easier for me to keep up with friends when I don't have to see them face to face--otherwise I'm forced to answer questions like 'why are you so sad?'. But I like meeting new people--it's keeping up with them that's so hard!

I'm so jealous--I WISH I wasn't so addicted, it's interfering with my every day life! I will stay up too late to play games, or get up too early to check updates. I even blow off school (not a good idea!). I really need a life, but until I find a job so I can pay for a life in person, I'm forced to a cyber life!

It's amazing--through one game I play (Mafia Wars), I had friends in many different countries! And because we have something in common, they are wonderful about sharing tips and tricks on how to play the game. I think that Facebook has really helped connect people around the world! Thanks for sharing!
