I was thinking about running my own personal contest on my blog to get referrals. Basically offering a small amount of cash to people that keep good activity on the given websites... either a set amount for reaching certain goals or just the top 5 or so people that have the best activity..
Would this be something that people would trust though? considering it is on a blog rather than an actual website..
feedback would be very much appreciated. thanks.

I have also thought about this and I think it sounds like an excellent idea. One problem will be getting people to get involved in this as well. Here in lies the trickiest part. How much are you going to hold for the prize? You want to make sure its enough for people to actually be interested, but at the same time make sure you are earning enough from these referrals to pay for that and earn money. After all that is the goal. If you can get a decent amount of people to get involved in a contest like this I would say go for it. Otherwise don't cuz you will lose money in the end.

well I've been thinking further into it more recently..
Rather than a competition, making it more like a loyalty sheme, so people get points for being active. like so many for signing up, so many for completing a certain task on the site etc.. so then it's easier to work out the profit margin and people will know where they stand.
Also rather than having it on a blog have it on a hosted website as it has better features..

If you are doing this with people you actually know, they would probably trust you. If a random person came across your blog, Im not sure that they would believe it.
It doesnt sound like you have anything to lose, though. It might be worth a try as long as you can track what the referrals are doing!

it's actually going to be directed at random people. put they will all be free to join programs anyway, so they don't really have anything to lose, it's just going to give them some kind of reward for staying active on other sites which also pay them..
