How to work with google adsense?

I know that many people are trying to earn mony with google adsense, but I wanted to know if somebody is acctually getting something from this programm. I started homepage but can't get any traffic to it. Can somebody help me to get started to give some helpfull tips.

you will not be able to earn from your single homepage you will need to create lots of content for your site and will need to promote it to many search engines and directories can you please tell us your homepage address? as i will be able to serve you better
