When you lower your expectations do you think it makes you stronger? I think expectations should e very flexible, there is so much about them that is out of our control.

Yes I would agree with you that expectations should be flexible, If one has high expectation sometimes you can be sorely disappointed. Same goes with low expectations, have them and then sometimes you will be highly surprised. What I am trying to say you have to have balance in life and you have to take the good with the bad. Hopefully the good will outweigh the bad

I share JenInT's point of view 'expect the worse and hope for the best'. I always prepare myself for the worst possible outcome and how to manage that. If it happens I know I will be able to deal with it and if it doesn't; bonus! There is nothing wrong with high expectations as long as you know how to handle the disappointment and you can feel secure in the knowledge that no matter what happens you will be able to cope.

I always expect the worse and hope for the best. It keeps me safe. It also gives me great enjoyment when it does turn out for the best. I don't really lower my expectations or fight any less for the things I want..but I don't expect them to come to me at a given time or even at all. I just do the best I can and hope it works out.

I also agree to you that expectations should be flexible. I usually have plan A -C in my expectations, so that if the 1st expectation didn't come true, I still have my plan b and plan c. lol

Expectations should be kept low since you cannot enforce others to do the work for you. Low expectations really keeps us going ahead in our own way without burdening others. This helps us to carry out our work ourselves and gain knowledge in the subject. So obviously it helps in growing us. In today's world everyone is dependent on others for some work. It is present everywhere. One should maximum not to disturb others if you feel that the work can be better done by yourself.
