So last June I went to see my general doctor because I was having some digestive issues. I will spare you the details. I had blood in my urine during a routine urine check, but he said that I did not have any white blood cells indicating that it was an infection. I had never had this before, but I did not know that it could be serious. So he told me to come back in two weeks for a check up but I didnt. So last Friday I went to my general doctor again because I was having an issue once again unrelated to any urine or anything. Well while I was leaving he noticed that I did not have my check up urine. So he told me to do one. I did not thinking anything about it because I have not felt anything. Well it came out that I still had blood in the urine. So he sent me to the lab to do a urine culture to see if there was any infection. Well three days later it comes back with no infection. So I have had blood in my urine for about 8 mths and I go to the urologist tomorrow. Everything I read on the internet points to some kind of cancer. I have had cervical cancer before, but they said that they got it all. Has anyone ever had anything like this or know what the urologist will do?

Hello, baileycows! Well, I have gone to a urologist twice. When I got a urinary tract infection, it takes me hard to urinate so I go to a urologist to have a urine test. Based on the result, the pus cound was high, it means that I got infected so I was recommended to take some antibacterial medicine. Weeks after, there is no more pain and I got back to test again. And the results are fine. This is my experience, happy mylotting and have a nice day!

I have Interstitial Cystitis (IC)& I always have at least a trace of blood in my urine. My primary doctor always says something to me about it when I have to give a urine specimen, I guess they forget about me having IC. I was seeing a urologist weekly for treatment a few years ago. The Uro might just do a urine test first - I don't know what all the Uro will check for with the urine but depending on the findings with that will depend on what other tests the Uro will do. In my case I had to go in for a scope to put saline solution in my bladder to extend it to check to see how bad my IC is. Good luck on finding out what is going on & hoping it's nothing to worry about. =)

I had to see a urologist this past week because I have had chronic utis for about 7 years now. He told me that he has some patients take a antibiotic every day for the rest of their lives. I told him I worried about that because I take a birth control pill and antibiotics can make the birth control pill ineffective. This doctor was at least 70 and he said that was news to him that he had never heard that before. I was shocked. That is common knowledge he should know that! I dont feel very safe in his care now. I have to go on tuesday and have a scope done to see whats going on inside me. I'm very scared.
