~~~What get fit activities do YOU do?~~~
Recently I started joining in with workmates in five-a-side football or soccer games. This has extended my repertoire of activities to about four which I do at least once a month. So that is yoga....s o g o o d for stretching out all those stressed achy muscles. Swimming, not quite so often, as can get a reaction from the chlorine in the water, but can be relaxing too. And the gym - all those weight lifting machines, treadmills, free weights - not forgetting the warm-up and warm-down exercises. Found the football to be social and using a few different skills in aiming to make competitive advantage! Shadowing one of your opponents... bluffing as to who will get the ball to keep the other team guessing... using situational awareness (aware of what is going on around you!). There is probably more that I could tell, but anyway, over to you - What is your get fit routine?
Sounds like you are having a lot of fun ,gym is to expensive for me.Walking is a good one fast and then slow.up in the next village they have installed an adult out door gym marvellous so it is a mile away for a warm up walk ,before you get there half and hour on the equipment then a mile walk back to cool the muscles down.We also managed to get hold of a wii fit at last,so that is also a good exercise ,plus I also purchased a twist and turn machine of the avon and that is very good for the mid rift,so hopefully I should lose the weight around my tummy and also get fit as well.
I have two dogs and I love to take them for long walks in the countryside and by the ocean. I go swimming as often as I can but the water at the swimming pool is never as warm as a tropical sea. I used to do much cycling and might take that up again this summer. I would like to try out yoga.
Sounds like you have a bit of variety, and would recommend most definitely the taking up of yoga - for the stretch and de-stress!
I play badminton with my husband five times a week. We play at 6am until around 7-7:30am, it really depends on the weather. Getting up can be hard at times but it's really fun once you start to play.
I think it is awesome that you have so many different activities to keep you fit! It really helps because you dont get bored with doing the same thing over and over again! Last December, I began playing lacrosse in a league. It was so much fun, I hadnt played since high school! Unfortunately, the league right now doesnt fit into my schedule. Since the weather has turned nice, I have also been going for walks. I adore the outdoors so this is good, relaxing exercise. One of the things that really helps the most is I have a friend I get together with. We make an effort to do various things which we can enjoy together, but still gives us some good exercise. The next thing we have planned is rock climbing at a local rock gym. I cant wait!
Yes, also staying fit has positive emotional benefits! Less time vegetating in front of TVs and computers - well most of the time it IS highly educational!!! . The rock climbing sounds good, adventurous as well. I did a bit many years ago in the great outdoors, in England's lake district, up in the north-west of the country.
Living in Hawaii, I love to do any activity that gets me in the water: Surfing, Boogie boarding, snorkeling, swimming, etc. I also spend a lot of time just digging in the sand with my son. I also try to get out to jog/walk as much as I can, usually 2-3 times a week. Other than that, I do some exercise videos occasionally on the days that I can't get out of the house. I am hoping to buy a bike within the next few months to start riding regularly. I would love to one day participate in a triathlon.
