Hello all,
I personally have ALWAYS loved Star Trek the Next Generation, but not any other series, such as these new ones with wacky actors and unusual people (:)), but the movie looks good. It just so happens to be my father's birthday this Saturday, so we might take him out to go see it...
I've always enjoyed watching Picard, Riker, and Data solve each episode's problems, but this movie seems like a classy new chapter in the Star Trek history log. Are you going to go see it? If so, who would you bring with you? Express your thoughts and views here.

My boyfriend is taking me to see it next week, I'm not that big a Star Trek fan but I don't mind the movies. I can't help but wonder why they did a movie after all this time that is meant to be before all the others, why make a pre-qual of the characters that were in Star Trek ages before good old Captain Picard (the best captain ever!) came on the scene.

Ah man! Darn- that and the Picard guy is still around- he was an amusing actor...very famous now (which explains why I can't recall his name. :) )
Oh well- I guess it'll place an interesting spin on things. If you think about, they did something similar with Star Wars, so we'll just have see...
Great response! Thanks for contributing.

I'm hoping to go see it. (If you read "The Onion" online, btw, they have a hilarious video parody up right now, about Trekkies being disappointed to learn that a ST movie is actually fun and engaging--that breaks the tradition!)
I've was a huge fan of the original ST when I was a kid, and then loved New Generation just as much in the 1990s. I didn't follow the spin-offs too much after that. This is supposed to be a sort of "origins of" prequel, where we learn about the beginning of the U.S.S. Enterprise crew with the original characters (though not, of course, the original cast!). That's an intriguing enough premise to get me to pay admission.
And, as for all Science Fiction, it really is a totally different experience on the big screen, so I'm looking forward to tight action and great special effects, hopefully.

Hello, Seacaucus4,
"The Onion" online, aye? Just from the title it sounds amusing...:)
Yeah, this one does seem to be a lot more...engaging and eye-opening than the typical episode! Hah- I guess they have to, otherwise no one would bother going to see it.
Yes, I do agree with you there- the later imitations were kind of crap (excuse me, but I thinks such terminology is rather necessary) and frankly just didn't have the same addicting sense to it.
U.S.S Enterprise crew except without the same cast of course (:D), most likely stunning special effects and intense action, and the naturally big screen appeal. Alright! I'm sold- I'm definitely going to go see it now! :)
I just hope it hasn't been leaked to online free-movie-watch sites, as it kind of ruins the excitement and build-up.
Great response! Thanks for contributing to this discussion.

Yea, were me and my bf are going to watch it tonite (May 7) and catch the late night screening. He told me that this star trek is about before Captain Picard was older, or captain? Im still excited because I have never been dissatisfied with any star trek movies and I get it because I grew up watching it (thanks to no cable i guess). Even if it is new characters I trust that it will be just as good and I didn't do my homework so I do not know who is actually producing it but my bf tells me that the critics gave it a thumbs up and those lemon faces are a tough crowd these days.
