Do you know anything about Schwan's?

I got a pamphlet about the food delivery company, Schwan's. I looked through it, but I'm kind of iffy on it. It's not the money, it is the food. Has anyone ever tried it, or know someone who has? For instance the mashed potatoes. I don't like too many people's mashed potatoes, and they are kind of fattening as well, and I just want to make sure I wouldn't be buying so-so food. Anyone have any knowledge that might help me out? Thank you.

I have ordered from Schwan's before and everything was great, they can be a bit pricey, but I always enjoyed their pizzas and caramel rolls so much. But now, in order to help save costs we have not ordered from Schwan's in awhile. Hopefully soon enough I will be enjoying those hot caramel rolls from the oven again.

They have really good food. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who can afford to buy from them. The quality of the food is really good.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll have to really think hard about the cost.

We have gotten a few things from them. My grandma used to buy items from them all the time when I was a kid. So I remembered that and have tried a few items. For the most part what I have tried has been good but not GREAT. I haven't tried the mashed potatoes so can't help there. I did try the cinnamon rolls and they took way too long to cook compared to the ones from the store. They tasted alright but once again NOT GREAT. My kids like the cheese stuffed pretzels the most.

Schwans was bought out here but I can't remember the name of the company. All I know is when it was Schwans, man OH man do they have the best ice cream in the world!!! I never did use the other products because it was very expensive. I know others who bought from Schwans and I have never heard anything bad, it was all good, and everyone said the same the ice cream was to die for.

Before I answered here I had to look at their website since I confess I've never heard of them before, but yikes there food DOES look great, kind of expensive though, don't you think? Be cheaper in the long run just to make everything homemade. Oh, and I know what you mean about mashed potatoes. One time some years ago a friend invited me to have an early dinner with her at this great (and very expensive) restaurant. She said I just HAD to have their mashed potatoes as they were out of thus world. Mmmmm....maybe out of this world is right as I saw nothing that special about them...I make better!

My aunt used to order a bunch of stuff from them every month. The food is ok. I would not say great though. What is nice about them is that they deliver to your door. The ice cream is good though.

I found their food just great, the overpricing was just for them to make up for the gas and the drivers pay,but as for fast and tasty dishes,I can not run around, buy the products and then take the time to cook them as fast as I can with their products. I did find with the mashed potatoes, that with a bit of butter and slt and pepper, they were good,I liked the french fries better though. I hope this helps you decide.

I use to buy Schawan's, but its really high priced. The food is good. I loved the ice cream, but now am lactose intolerant, so have trouble eating it.

I checked out their website about a year ago and the stuff is very expensive but looks like it would be delicious. Depending on your personal food budget, Schwans might be a good deal. Or, you could try a crockpot recipe and just freeze what you don't use right away for ready made meals later. Homecooked and cheap. Just however you like!

The more I think about it, the more I think going the traditional grocery store route is best. It is just that sometimes getting out when I'm sick is very difficult.

My brother is blind and lives alone. He loves Schwanns! They are very simple for him to prepare. I have never tasted the main meals but I have had their icecream products. Very delicious!

That's one of the main reasons my brother orders it too. Shopping is not always easy for him as he needs assistance. They seem expensive to me, but if I were single, I would possibly try them.

I have had the ice-cream products and pizzas from them, and I thought that they were pretty good. I haven't tried anything else though. I do know many people who regularly buy the products and really enjoy them.

I have a friend who loves their stuff. She gets it all the time, when she doesn't feel like cooking. The only things I've had of theirs is their frozen bread dough and some smoked sausage that I got at ValuFoods during the holidays (they got it as a close out)...and both were excellent. Sorry, can't help on the potatoes.

Yes I do and it's saved me when I was working some 50 hours a week. The food is good and the prices really aren't that bad. Considering during the gas hikes they didn't raise their prices. As for the quality, just as with any processed foods you're going to have some down falls, but they have hearthealty meal kits in there that are out of this world in flavor and I know I couldn't cook it for all the ingrediants in there. They stop here twice a month and I can always trust them to have exactly what we need when we need it.

I love Schwann's! I have not tried their mashed potatoes. We use them for things like their frozen cheese tortellini. You just pop them into some hot, boiling water, and in 8 minutes you're ready to add your favorite sauce and have an awesome Italian meal. Their ready meals that you just pop in the oven are really good too! We also like their ice cream products! Awesome ice cream sandwiches, and good prices in comparison to the grocery stores, plus I don't have to fight Walmart!

I think their food is very good....I haven't had one thing that is bad from them. But I do think for what you get it's very overpriced...but I don't buy much from them anymore. Once in a while they have a parking lot sale now....then I might stop and buy something....their ice cream sandwiches just rock!

HI, I never have food from this company. But one thing I dont like about mashed potatoes is too flat or they look old to me. if you say, you dont want too many people to mashed potatoes, then you are wrong... they will go hand to hand... Just try to avoid it and buy somewhere else if you dont feel comfortable with it.

I have a friend that lives in a small town in western Illinois and she told me about Schwan's. From what I understand they deliver to your home. They've been in business for quite a while. From what i remember she said the food was pretty good. Can't really tell you about any specific things, though., but everbody's got their own tastes. Good luck.

I personally have not ordered anything from them, but a lot of my relatives have. I do know that their cheese, pizzas, french fries, and cookies are really good, but then, none of those things are very healthy either. I always wanted to try their frozen fruit mixes. They look very tempting.
