Your Passport that is? When you applied for a passport, how long did it take to get it? I am getting worried that my son's won't be here in time because of all of the trouble I have had with getting his birth certificate. When we went to get the passport they told us his birth certificate wouldn't work. It has to have the raised seal. So I ordered the birth certificate April 21 and just got everything squared away yesterday. Now on Friday it will be 10 weeks before he leaves to go to Switzerland. I am so afraid the passport won't come in time. Hope I have the birth certificate by Friday so I can move on to the next step.

In my home country it took me 3 weeks to get my new passport. My application had to be sent away. Years ago I did get a passport in one day. There used to be a one day service at the Passport Office. Good luck getting your son's passport and then obtaining his passport. My toddler son got his passport when he was just four months old. Getting the passport photo was funny. He had to lay down on a white background.

We did get the passport in time for the trip, luckily. He went on his trip and has since came back. Had a wonderful time and his team took second in the championship. It was well worth the time and money spent for our son to be a part of such a huge opportunity.

I just went directly through courthouse and paid for rush service. But when I got there with the new birth certificate the lady said she didn't know if it would work. I said, "It better. I just got it from the state of Oklahoma." She hadn't seen the birth certificates from other states so she said she wasn't sure if it was the right one. Well, HE!!, I just got it from Oklahoma after going through a bunch of crap with the service I used. It damn well better work......

When I got mine I had to pay extra to speed things up. I hadn't known I would be leaving the country, so when I found out I had to pay a whole lot of extra money to get everything when I needed it. But that was seven years ago and I don't remember how much it cost.

I got my first passport 5 years ago. (Holy crap I cant believe it has been that long!) Since you didnt need a passport to go to Canada, Mexico, or the Caribbean at the time, they werent nearly as overloaded as they are now!
In 2007, I traveled in my maiden name because we scheduled the trip before we got engaged. Therefore, I had to wait until after we returned to get my new passport. We returned back to the US around the first of December. Not long after that, we decided to return to Germany in February. I booked the travel in my married name, so I had to do something! It was about 8 weeks before we were leaving.
I wanted to make sure I had my passport, so I paid the extra money to get the express service. I got my passport with about 4-5 weeks to spare. No one wants to pay the extra money, but I think in this case using the 'expedited service' is your best option. You wouldnt want to still be waiting on your son's passport when it is time for him to leave.
I hope you get that birth certificate soon! (My brother-in-law had to wait months for the federal government to send him the right one to get a passport! He was born in Canada but his parents were there with the military I believe. At least the state is much quicker about it!)
