heckling donation calls!

I'm all for helping the community, i donate as much as i can to different organizations, but i cant stand when they try to force you to make a contribution.
I had a phone call yesterday, this one was the worst yet.They asked if i could make a donation of $30, and i told them that i couldn't because i lost my job, so the guy say's I'm sorry to here that, but how about $20, I'm like no, i just cant do it, then he goes on to say, " we see that you have donated before and that's why we're calling you, we just need a little more help, how about $10". I got so upset and just hung up,he just wouldn't stop, I'm a single mom, i just lost my job, why are you heckling me for 10 bucks.
Was i wrong for hanging up? Has any one experienced the same thing? Please share!

no, i dont think you were wrong to hang up. i would have too. i dont think they have any right to heckle you like that. i would be on the phone to their organization complaining about the heavy sales pitch. tell them from now on, you will be donating elsewhere. that'll fix em!
