Anyone else not fond of shorts in summer?

I don't care to wear shorts much in summer at all for several reasons..... I don't like the length of the shorts once I put them on. I prefer jean shorts that are about knee length and most are mid thigh. I hate knit shorts they ride up and whats the point of them keeping you cool if they are uncomfortable? And my number one reasons are my legs are always ghost white and I"m too lazy to shave my legs most of the time. *lol* Anyone else?

I live in a very hot country. I am also older so what I do is wear long shorts. This shorts are often called walking shorts and are 10" long. Sometimes they are called Bermuda shorts. I have a couple of pairs in cotton but I usually only wear them around the house. They are very cool as they are not tight and do not ride up.I just waer them bare footed or with flip flops or sandals. This works for me. The shaving is awful - have done it all of my life and why are the hairs on my legs and underarms black and the hair on my head grey? Life is really not fair.

I haven't seen Bermuda shorts since I was a kid. And if you do see them they are in the mens section and look like mens shorts... I hear ya bout the difference in hair colors over time, makes no sense to me either.

It ois the way people dress out here in the tropics. cool but not too much leg showing whilst shopping. Glad that you understand about the hairs!

While I don't care what my legs look like particularly, I do care about comfort and I like the knee pants, just above the knee. I'm 55 and nobody wants to see my old thighs!! Not even me! I've never liked shorts, they pinch my bottom and the backs of my thighs get burned if I sit on a hot chair--and they stick if I sit on a plastic chair! Old lady pedal pushers (that's what we used to call Capri pants) or long shorts for me!

That is true I hate it when I stick to any chair that isn't fabric covered. I like "old lady pedal pushers" and I'm not an old lady quite yet

I do not like shorts. I wore them as a boy (back in the 70s they were really short) and I don't mind children wearing them. I do think the baggy ones are horrid, and any adult male wearing them looks alien to me. But I don't see reason to complain, I just suffer their presence. I suppose I would be more tolerant at the beach or pool, but not on public streets, stores, and especially restaurants. As for women, I've seen a few around here that are really tight, some with the bottom hem barely under the buttocks, and most of the time the tops are just as tight. Geez, I'm starting to sound like a cranky old man ...

*lmao* Not completly a cranky old man.... just have some standards. I don't care for the tight tight barely look either. Not every woman can or should dress like they should be working @ Hooters. Yeah those shorts from the 70's were super short. I can't fantom those on a man today nor wearing them with socks pulled up to the knees!

I never used to wear shorts, but the older I get it seems the less I can deal with hot weather. I also have gained weight, having kids and getting older seems to get some us! lol I figure Im not out to impress anyone I already have my prince and if he still loves me that is all I need! Now I dont go out in Daisy Dukes or anything thou! I do wear shorts now thou. Normally a few inches above the knee. I have ones that I wear when we go shopping and then the real comfortable ones I wear at home.

My husband doesn't wear shorts either. He owns 1 pair of shorts, but only wears them when he has to. Mostly he doesn't like them because he won't wear sandles, and he hates the way shorts look with sneakers and socks. I on the other hand love to wear shorts. I hate the heat, and don't handle it well, so I HAVE to wear shorts when it's warm out!

I can agree with your hubby the socks & shoes + shorts isn't always a good look on some people. We wear flip flops around here quite a bit actually, and all year since ourbasement is not barefoot safe. I hate heat too, that's why I hide in the A/C ;)

He he.. I so agree with you.. I too have to plan and wear shorts cause I need to shave my legs for it.. Also my footballer legs aren't really worth showing off... I prefer capris.. They're more comfortable and also trendy and stylish..

I agree I do love capri's! Though the only ones I own are too big for me as I wore them when I was pregnant (just a size bigger in stretch jean) and they are ok now that I"m not pg but when I walk up stairs they fall to my ankles *LOL*

I love shorts and I wear them all the time. Be it summer or winter. They are very comfortable and I prefer them to anything. They are comfortable for both staying at home or even if I have to go out to the store or such , I just go out without any problems. If I were wearing pants and such, I feel really uncomfortable with all the heat. bourne
