I think I will stick with Ivory or a mild Soap, I notice everytime I use the soap this one brand I itch all over. I like the body Washes, but some of them make me itch, I wonder what is in the soap that makes me itch? I guess I will stay away from the stronger soaps, which is a good brand to use? I need something mild.

Many soaps have a lot of chemicals in them. I use s body wash that is made with mostly natural ingredients. My sister has very sensitive skin and has a hard time with some soaps - and laundry detergents - too. If you're looking for a fairly inexpensive, natural set of products to use on your body, check out my profile. My Health Cafe has a lot of useful information.
Good Luck!

I have issues with a lot of different soaps too. My Dr told me I should stick with Ivory or Dial, and to use the unscented ones. Most of those body washes make me itch too. I have an allergy to chocolate, and while reading the ingredients I find that almost all of them have cocomide in them, and as it turns out, that is a derivitive from the cocoa plant (coca?) Anyways, it took me a long time to figure it out because the body wash I had at the time was coconut scented, and I thought the cocomide was from coconut...boy, was I ever wrong! I can't use Irish Spring either, and some of those deoderant soaps. I found I can use Jergens without itching too. Do you have any allergies? Just a thought because I have those allergies but never dreamed that cocoa would be in a bath product of all places!

I have to use Ivory, Jergens, or any soap that has no strong perfume. My husband loves Zest, and it is good for hard water. I told him when Zest makes a non-allergic soap I will use it, but it makes my skin dry and itchy. The funny thing is that I got a soap from my late mother-in=law that was made in England, but it was natural perfume, so I guess it must be the chemical perfumes they use over here. Oh and the Body Shop soaps do not work for me. Try to get one with natural and not chemical based perfume.

I'm allergic to Zest & Irish Spring...Those seem to be men's soap!!! The one I'm using now & seems to work the best for me is Lever 2000. I use the liquid instead of the bar. No particular reason except it was on sale when I first bought it. Most soap after using it for a while, I get a buildup. That hasn't happened wit Lever & I've been using it for about 5 years or so. Good luck on finding a soap that works for you.

It's probably the perfume used to give the soap a scent. That seems to be the main irritant of sensitive skin, so I feel you're probably doing the right thing. I use Dove soap but I'm lucky in that I don't have any real aversions to soap... only to washing powder that I use for my clothes.
Brightest Blessings.

Same thing here.
I usually just use the mild ones. They have mild in almost every brand.
I used nivea for a long time, because I worked at BDF. But not all the soaps or body washes were good for me either. But the mild ones were okay.
Personally I think Dove is pretty good. But it is so expensive here.
Take care.

Nuetrogena is a good brand. I used to have their soap when I was younger because nearly all other brands used to burn my skin.
Not sure if you would get this one, but Alpha Kerri is good too, if you can find it. It might only be available in New Zealand and Australia, but check it out any way.

All of us has our own type of skin and it reacts differently from each soap that we used. There are some skin that are not sensitive, that they can use strong soap.
Your skin is different and you have to be careful in choosing the brand of soap to used. Your skin might react to a certain ingredient. Why not ask your dermatologist what soap you will be using that is safe.
Like me, my skin reacts easily to soap. I can not used safeguard nor ivory because my face gets pimple even using it once. After consulting my derma, she told me to use unscented to wash my face since that is a very delicate part and I use liquid soap for my body. Recently, I discovered unscented glutathione soap, a beauty bar that made my face free from pimples and keep my face clean and smooth.

Hi ya Marcia
I hope you are well apart from your soupy itches! LOL. We have a brand here called Simple and it has no colouring in it or scent so it is good for the skin. I don't know if it is available in the US. Don't Avon do any soaps that are kinder to the skin? Take care

try dove for sensitive skin. this doesn't work for me since any bar of soap makes me break all over with pimples and itch. if this doesn't work try cetaphil bar since almost all dermatologists recommend this. this is a little costly than dove but if you don't want to spend a little more try using body washes like me till you find one that works for you. good luck!
