Wow, I'm not sure how I got on this page but I have been thinking about selling avon products for a very long time. I hear that it's a very good product but the competition is kind of tough, I asked a sales rep about it earlier and she mentioned passing out brochures and fliers. I don't know if that is your thing or not but good luck with it. I heard from some it was only ten dollars to get started but reading further down this post somebody said that they had to pay out over 100 dollars to get started. Personally I think that is too much. But hey If you have time and effort to put into it then you should go for it. You can't succeed if you don't try.

When I was an Avon rep, I used to buy the really cheap discontinued or repackaged item and sell them on a market stall. I also made up boxes of products for friends to take to work and sell for me, and asked people to take brochures into work. I used to pay them 10% of total sales. As Avon commission is very good, I did quite well from it, as well as being able to pay for all my own products and most of the Christmas and birthday presents for the family. Go for it!

You can sell Avon online via a website they provide you however alot of other represenatives have websites so the competition is really stiff. You don't neccesarily have to "hound" your friends. Just tell them nicely that you are selling Avon and would they like to see a Catalog. If they say no then no harm done! :-)You could have one of your friends host an Avon party and pick up customers there and one of their friends at that party will book an Avon party and so on. You get the picture. Just throwing my two cents in. Have a great night!

I think you have to have a certain personality type to be a salesperson. I was an Avon sales representative twice and I didn't do too well either time. I would want to give family and friends the discount, so I'd end up not making anything or making very little. Other people do really well with it. Good luck. Hope it works out for you.

I sold Avon a few years back but at the time I didn't have internet so I am not real sure how well Avon sells on the internet. When I sold it I didn't do as well as I had hoped...it cost me one hundred dollars to join and I am not even quite sure if I made that back. I think Avon has some really great products but I also think that there are a lot of people out there that sell it so it is hard to find people that don't already deal with a representative. I do think that the best way to sell it is to have a bunch of friends that use or would use the stuff or a work place that you can leave a book out for people to buy. I wish you the best...

Avon is great with a wonderful earning potential but their is a lot of competition. I sold Avon for a year, I found that their was more profit out of door-to-door, and I spent a while working on my clientele. I just started venturing online with it before I left for personal reasons, and didn't have much luck online. But I can see with proper marketing and dedication this could work.
