It always gets worse before it gets better, I have been through this a few times,I am 61. Even as a baby and my mom had to take in others laundry to wash and iron for what little she could make just to survive on what little we could get. The bottom usually drops out of things then it slowly gradually builds or in this case heals and gets better. We possibly are looking at a five year healing plan to get them economy in better shape.

I do think that treasury bonds will head higher. As of now, I think some of the biggest holders of U.S. treasuries are China, the OPEC, and maybe some carribean countries. When there are more buyers for treasuries, it was also make the prices go up.
As for growth, the economy will still grow, but maybe at a much slower rate. But the recession is a real threat to development. The unemployment rate is very high, and contributes to joblessness even more, causing a viscious cycle.
I guess I have a question for you, what things should I be doing as a college student (economics major) to understand the economy more? Or make a more positive impact?

In the past few years, the Economic world has changed faster than your imagine.United State and world other state - on separate sides of the globe are interconnected like nevr before .in fact,in this economy, few are able to keep up with the changes.but know this: those who make sense of these "connections" will likely be the affluent of tomorrow.and make a more positive impact.you are a college student (economics major) to understand the economy more, that will be good for you.
