A chilli in your mouth?

Suppose you are busy talking to a friend and you grab a red chilli instead of a chips in your hand and then You start eating that ;-)

When I was a kid, my mom taught us to drink milk as an aid to pacify the burning sensation of accidentally eating of chilis.

Yes, that's right. Chemically, milk neutralizes the "hot" chemicals much better than water. But, the problem is that you can't sit there and sip milk for 10 minutes straight. You can drink water in much larger quantities. If you have one glass of milk to neutralize the chemicals, and lots of water to soothe the pain, that's the best combination, I'd say.
