How many keys do you own, and do you know what each one is for?

I must have a billion keys in my possession.
I mean, I still have the key to my mom & dad's front door, if you can believe that?!
They passed away 30 years ago!
Most of these keys, I can remember what locks they all go to...but there are a few that still stump me...as to, when I think of where & how I got them from, when I got them, and to what do they open?
I won't throw any of them out because, I still believe I just might "some day" come across those locks I can't find for those keys, either.
Am I nuts?
Probably.

Doesn't it bug you when you can't figure out what that key goes to...but you're afraid to throw it away, just in case you actually DO find what it goes to?
That's why I have so many!

yes it does, and no I won't
I have a suspicion about what door it is too, and so I keep it (not that if I used it I could get into the house!)
I have one of those houses where the garage was converted into another room, and when it was orginally a garage, it had an entrance to the house into the kitchen and one into the laundry room from the garage and back yard. Well, I suspect this key is the key to that back door (I know one of the other keys is to the other back door.) IF I were to use it to open that back door, then I would have to excavate the door to get into the house anyway - and the back door is on the cat porch so I would also be fighting the cats at the same time - helpful little blighters.

You know I always have tons of keys too! Lots of times thy are even to vehicles I no longer own! But that nagging fear keeps me holding on.... What if some day....?
Well, lol! One day I got over that fear and carefully went through my keys... yep... there was one key that wasn't familiar and I could not place what in the world it went to.
Several months later, my son was looking to a key to his old truck that had been sitting out back for over a year! You guessed it... I had thrown that key away.
so now... I collect keys again and refuse to let them go!

Hahahahah.
What if some day either you or your son decide to buy a used vehicle, only to find out that it once was yours in the first place, and just happen to have the key for it?
"Oh that's OK Mr. Car Salesman...I already have a key for it, thank you."

Your the type of person who love to collect I guess thats explain why you have all those keys with you. Well I have lots of keys as well but never bothered to collect all of them. Sometimes I throw them out or just leave them where I found them. That would make a good collection though. And your not nuts...You just love to collect things...

Scrupulous? Hmmm, maybe?
No, I wouldn't say you're careless.
I'd say...EFFICIENT!
7 or 8 keys are a lot easier to keep track of.

Wow, you really have lots of keys, haha. I think i can understand how you feel. Having so much of keys will surely make the owner hard to differentiate and remember well which key is for which lock or room. Me myself do not own many keys but i do have some bunch of keys, where some of them i already hardly can remember for which lock they're for now. However, i still keep all the keys no matter they're the old or new ones (of course new ones have to be with me all the time, haha) just in case it may come to be handy one day.

So...you can understand what I mean.
Thank you for being such a collector too.
For a moment there, I thought it was just me???
Yes indeed...keep those old keys handy, because you'll never know just when they might be needed. I say; "Be prepared!" At least that's what I was always taught to do, when I was in Boy Scouts. Hehehehe. I guess some things never wear off, even in our adult years?

That's the most important key, and really, the only one that matters.
