I have a friend who has been working on quitting smoking but it has been half years that he has said that. I don't smoke but all the smokers say it is a big addiction that is very hard to get rid of, what is it???? Is it like us sometimes want chocolate very much at the moment, but it will go away quick. How do you feel when you want to smoke but you can't? What would happen if you dont get one when you really want it?
I know it is tough, well, all smokers say that, but I don't get it because I don't smoke...
Can yoiu guys tell me what it is please? Thank you very much!!!

I smoked for years and recently just quit. I think one has to really want to quit and pick a good time to quit when there is no stress in your life. I found the best way so far is to keep busy and stay away from the triggers that make you want to smoke. The first week or so it the hardest time when you quit. I also found the nicotine gum a help as well.
Hope that is a help. It can be hard to quit but it can be done

I have been a smoker for 13 years on and off I am 28 now and am trying every which way to drop it now instead of later. I do have to agree it is a big addiction. For me it seems to be a big help with relieving stress and anxiety even though it shouldnt be I have been trying to find many hobbies and other things to keep me as busy as possible so I dont smoke so much and hopefully soon enough not at all. I have a few friends that have said its just something they have done for so long why quit now and others have said its kinda like the hand to mouth routine. I have also started chewing gum alot now so I dont feel that I always need one.

I used Chantix... and for ANY way to quit to work, the smoker REALLY needs to WANT to quit smoking. I took Chantix for 1 month and I was done... I believe it's normally a 3+ month thing. It worked AWESOMELY for me! ANd I only had one weird dream... and it involved my best friend and bacon... I was just about to enjoy bacon she made me at her mother's house and then, suddenly, my husband woke me up... before I got to eat my bacon... needless to say, we had bacon for dinner LOLOL...
But, as for quit smoking techniques, I tried cold-turkey, the patch, & chantix... Chantix worked for me my 1st try! Its been 13 months since I quit!

I am not a chain smoker who use to smoke every day or every hour. I do smoke but once in 3 months or so. yes, I can feel the desparation when I see a person smoking in front of me and my mind says that I should have one or two but I think I am strong enough to stay away from them. I only smoke on occassions when people are really asking me to do so in a group. Just not to feel awkward!

hmm how can you smoke once in 3 months? I trhought it is a chain addiction that you need everyday unless you quit it completely? I have heard some people say they smoke like once in a while when they socialize with friends, how does that work? Thanks for sharing! :-)

Well I am a smoker and it is a hard habit to break. There are many ways to try and break the habit. Gums are one option but to me those are not cheap and there is a chance you can become addicited to those as well. There is also groups that might help as well. I found a few things that might be helpful online as well, a article and a program check them out and see if they might help your friend. Take care and happy mylotting to you as well.
