I know it's a bit late but I just finished watching Mei-chan no Shitsuji (Mei-chan's Butler) and I must say that it's quite interesting - I'm a fan of manga-based dramas, after all.Mei-chan no Shitsuji (Mei-chan's Butler) is about a poor but cheerful girl, Shinonome Mei, who was raised by equally cheerful parents in a noodle shop. However, one day, her parents died in a plane crash, leaving Mei to fend for herself. That was when an S-Rank butler by the name of Shibata Rihito enters the scene and takes her to St. Lucia Gakuen, a prestigious school where rich kids are trained to be ladies and each lady must have a (handsome) butler in order to be accepted into the school. The drama basically follows Mei's adventures in this school.
Of course, it's pretty much your typical shoujo manga (with lots and lots of gorgeous guys) but I guess my favorite element would be the relationships between the characters, especially those between ladies and butlers. I was particularly touched during the episodes featuring Kiba and Izumi and Daimon and Miruku. I also felt for Shinobu (Lucia-sama's butler) and am still torn between hating him and pitying him (though, I'd say he still got his happy ending.)
Anyone else watched this drama? Please do share your thoughts.

hey! wow. this is going to be my first post after a long long long time. ^^
i've watched this drama on mysoju and at first, i was really enjoying it. but i got tired of in the middle part but still i was able to finished it. i got tired because of mei's attitude. there was a part where she really looked so pathetic like a loser. i can't remember the exact scenes but it made me delay finishing the series. the reasons why i felt compelled to finish it was because of mizushima hiro, rihito-sama! ^^ he's one of my favorite Japanese actors. and then i was curious on how Lucia would end up. she was sooo evil. and because i was curious too on the fact that the actress who played Lucia was also in the movie Akihabara@Deep as.. i think Akira was her name there. can't exactly remember.
and then, also why i got tired of it was i thought their world was so much a fantasy and absurd. how can every rich girl get a butler and make them like slaves?? but then, it was just a tv story. LOL still, i liked the series because of a few characters - Izumi, who is such a very composed lady and... nyaaa... i forgot her name and her butler's name! it was the girl who had a Mafia leader for a father. i liked her and her butler. ^^ and then, i couldn't believe that Kento was the one with the long hair in Rookies! i just had to watch him in a different look. and i just recently found out that the actress who played Mei was also in Proposal Daisakusen as Eri. Eri was such a fun character unlike Mei.
anyway.. this was a good discussion to start my myLotting days again. long time no see nekonyata! its good to be back. ^^

Hi, secretbear~! Yes, it's been a long time, hasn't it. Anyway, I agree that the main character (like almost all main character in shoujo manga) does need to have a more interesting personality. And yes, Mizushima Hiro is as good an excuse to finish watching anything, in my opinion. *lol*
The actress who played Lucia is Yamada Yuu and I think she did play Akira in the akihabara@deep movie. Interestingly, her and the actor who played her butler, Mukai Osamu played a couple in Seigi no Mikata so it's the second time they've paired up for a drama. (I'm a fan of their pairing.

yeah. a really long time. i got distracted with a lot of things like downloading and watching a lot of Jdoramas. ^^ i don't know mukai osamu but his face seems familiar. i was hoping Shinobu and Lucia would end up like Mei and Rihito, like secret lovers. ^^ but i guess that was too much to hope for in that series with that kind of Lucia's character.

It's a good thing I've seen the drama first before reading the manga :D The main reason why I decided to watch it is because of Mizushima Hiro (though it still breaks my heart that he stopped acting and taken up writing/directing T_T).
Hiro and Nana did a great job as Mei and Rihito. The manga's a bit more... Um... "Descriptive" and "Detailed" unto what grandpa Hongo's read plan is for Mei :P The drama did numerous cut on certain manga scenes (which is need of course since the manga is quite lengthy) but they haven't took out important parts. I also love the theme song for this drama :D
I squealed at the ending. Lol!

I love Mizushima Hiro, too!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was also disappointed when I learned that he's not going to act anymore. But I think he said somewhere that he's not closing his doors for acting. Let's hope for it!
I've forgotten about this drama! I've watched this a long time ago. Hiro was the only reason I watched it. ^^
