I'm not sure about that, i was a college drop out, fave an almost failing grades in high school and grade school, never was great on any subjects. but i am earning twice the minimum in here in the Philippines. people would normally get paid 8-10 thousand pesos monthly but i am getting around 20-24. not even the field of study you pursue would be important, you take up engineering and be a tailor, you can study law and simply be an office staff. BTW, in reality one of the most richest persons never even finished college, some never even made it to college, but they are capable of earning millions every year

There many criteria for a great job such as the prestige of the school you are in, good grades and the like but I would say that a good academic standing is "one of the important" things after graduation because it increases your chances of getting a better job. I would say it creates a good impression, but the truth is, there are more important things other than a good academic standing. Other than good grades, an employer also looks on one's work experiences in the field. A good example are the extra-curricular activities which I believe students should also pay attention to. It develops the student's self-confidence which is really needed in any workplace and as what I've said earlier, it enhances the employee's competence. If you're also better in extra-curricular activities and a lot more experienced, it also guarantee you a better job. Things are a lot different in the workplace, and the reason for having a higher position in your work is not because you have achieved better grades than others, but because you handle more responsibilities. For instance, a janitor's responsibility is solely to make sure that everything's clean while a machine operator is more responsible for the technical sides of the work. The whole system would work even without a janitor and it would not affect the entire company, but if the machine operator fails to do his job or encountered a problem, everything will be in big trouble. I guess the best way to land a good job is to ask yourself, "what makes me different among all the other employees in my field?" it may be a tough question, but if you know you are equipped with qualities which makes you outstanding among all the others, then job hunting won't be that hard I guess. :-)
