We heard news about swine flu virus or H1N1 and there are many victims who are now suffering from infections, some of them died. Upon hearing the news I was alarmed and was afraid of eating pork meat, I am afraid that I might be affected with that kind of virus. So when buying food, pork is not included in my list. And since then I don't eat pork, but still I have to have my vitamins and at the same time have that so called holistic health. We need to take care of our body for it is the best gift the Lord has given us. How about you, do you still eat pork? What motivate you to still eat pork?

Even before we had the H1N1 Virus, pork hasn't really been served that much at home. My family's really trying to be eating and living healthy, so pork is usually the last option during a meal. We normally have seafood and chicken. When we out, seafood is always the first choice.
Anyways, to answer your question, personally I won't stop eating pork just because of the H1N1 Virus -- the World Health Organization (WHO) have made it pretty clear that you cannot virus by eating pork.

yeah you are right russo, and I think you are a healthy person for you are eating seafoods, I also eat seafoods with lots of vegetable and fruits with alittle amount of pork, but when I heard the news and even though the WHO assures us that it is safe to eat pork I will never eat it. thanks, can you add me as your friend?

Seafood -- this is the way to go. They're low in carbs, high in protein... low in fat too, but should still be eaten in moderation because some could be high in cholesterol. I was thinking just a while ago, I haven't really eaten pork in months! Here's to eating healthy, cheers!

Like all viruses, swine flu or H1N1 virus is airborne. It cannot be transmitted by eating pork. All the media reports are just fanning the flames and causing a lot of problems for people who raise pigs for their meat, and a lot of fear among people who generally eat pork.

Even before the Swine Flu Virus(H1N1) came, we don't serve pork here at home anymore.. My hubby and I decided not to munch on unhealthy foods anymore because we are scared of getting terrible diseases/ailments in the future.. plus, i am diabetic.. I am not allowed to eat red meat such as pork, beef and some parts of the chicken.. according to World Health Organization and local health departments you can't acquire H1N1 virus by eating pork.. Swine Flu is airborne..

hello mhethess!
i have heard about the swine flu virus too. i got alarmed right away not because i like pork but because most of the people in my family likes eating pork. i immediately got worried for my little nephew and niece. but then, the news said that swine flu hasn't reached the country according to DOH. so i felt relieved then.
and then last week, one of my officemates said swine flu might reach the country through the people who watched Manny Pacquiao's fight in Las Vegas. i'm just praying it would not. anyway, we are not that worried. my mother even bought pork last week. actually, we don't eat pork always. most of the time we have fish and chicken for viand. i think its just about buying safe goods from trusted vendors.

It has been all over the news that the swine flu has absolutely nothing to do with pigs and pork products. It was called the swine flu because A PART of the virus was found in pigs, the other parts ore found in humans. It is a combination of a few viruses. I do not understand why many people are afraid to eat pork now, read up on the facts of the swine flu and see for yourself.

Am no doctor but don't think that Swine Flu can be caught through eating pork. Anyway hasn't stopped me eating it as it is my favourite meat to eat, as well as ebing the cheapest, other than chicken.

Hi,mhethess,I used to eat little pork in my daily diet. But I stopped eating pork any more as soon as I heared the bad news about swine flu virus or H1N1 virus which is spreading fast.It sounds really terrible.According to the reports, the number of people who are infected by the swine flu virus or H1N1 are on the rise. The governments related are doing their best to prevent the swine flu virus or H1N1 from spreading.I think we should pay more attention to our daily life, like washing hands frequently, minimizing contact with suspicious person and so on.
Have a nice day and happy mylotting!

Well I am not sure once I have read your post. I am thinking origionally that it is okay in Moderation. It has been to my understanding that the meat is clean for eating. I see that as okay in the eating in Moderation. But if the handling of the animal while it is alive is not at an appropriate state, then maybe it then becomes unclean? Just a thought upon reading your post. Is that what you were getting at?

The DOH has already declared that our Pork in our country has no indication that it has the virus. It is also said that eating pork won't infect or transmit the disease. It is the human transmission that is really frightening not the pork to human transmission that is supposed to happen. The only thing DOH advised is to avoid eating raw meat or cook it very well so that you don't get other diseases that might be in there. That is also they are now avoiding to use the Swine Flu since its not the swine flu that infects us but the mutated flu virus called AH1N1 flu virus which is not present on the pigs anymore but is in us already.

In fact my favorite meats are beef and seafood. I am not very interested in pork, but I will eat it if the dishes with pork are delicious. The doctors already said that the pork is not the reason for people to have H1N1. If the pork is well cooked, it is no problem to eat it.
I love China

Reading the main newspaper, every day it focused on the swine flu. And each day it repeated the listing of things to pay attention to (symptoms, ways of catching, etc.), but also clearly listed that eating pork will not risk you more of getting the swine flu.
Either way, I do not eat pork anyway.

Just because it's called teh swine flu doe snot mean it has anything to do with the kind of meat you are eating. People didn't ctach this through eating pork-they caught it liek a regular virus- because it is. It is just a sickness they happned to call teh swine flu because of the mexican pigs who started it.
