Remembering our Mothers

I know that we all did not have the PERFECT MOTHER. Our mothers were all just as flawed as anybody. Many did the best they can with what they have, some just gave up. Since it's Mother's Day, I'd like to encourage us all to think about the goodness and kindness of our mothers. What's the best thing that you remember about your mom? And what example from your mom will you follow as you mother your own children.
I'll start:
My mom cooks very well. I remember when I was still a teen, I'd call her up in the afternoon and ask if I can bring my friends over, she'd say yes. When we get home, she has already prepared yummy food for me and my friends. Another thing is that she opened up our house to my friends, which I believe is a good thing. She knows most of my friends until now. This is something that I'd like to continue doing with my own children.

When I was young, my father used to chase me with a belt whenever I misbehaved. My mom didn't like what he was doing, so she told him that she would raise me from now on. She stood up for me, and I thank her for that.

Wow that's nice. I mean about your mom standing up for you. So is she still around till now? Have you tried telling her how grateful you are for doing what she did? I'm a mom of four, and it just makes me feel so thankful and happy whenever any of my children will come to me and thank me for being their mom. Hope you let your mom know how you feel. :)

Well, I've never FORMALLY thanked her, but whenever my dad picks on her for something, I've always tried to defend her side of the argument. I owe it to her.

I think you're great and that you really love your mom. Keep on! Thanks for responding to my discussion. :)
