Two years from now, with God's grace, I'll be graduating from college. My current course is a Bachelor of Arts degree major in Mass Communication. Typically, it's a 4-year course but in reality, I will be spending 5 years in college. It was due to the fact that I made a shift from Nursing to Mass Communication. Shift happens, right?

Haha! Shift happens alright! It took me six years to finish college. I spend one year in Management Information Systems then i shifted to Psychology when i felt that computers were not for me. Well at least during that time, lol! I spent 5 years in Psychology because i need to skip 1 semester because i was fully loaded and i couldn't accomodate a major subject. lol! My last year, i only enrolled on Psych Testing. My only subject for my last semester. It felt like i was on vacation. lol!

Well, success in life won't be measured upon how long you stayed in college right?I just really want to express my thoughts on the shift that happened in my college life because I really want to prove to my mother that I can be successful even if I am not a nursing student. It's just sad that my mother was really disappointed about the shift because she really expected a lot from me since I've been an achiever academically all these years to the point that she wanted me to fulfill her ambitions.

So i guess i was right about my guesses afterall. That's the problem with parents. they think they know everything that's best for their child but they don't take into account the emotional needs like fulfilling dreams.

Hello tracydee!!!! OK wish you to get graduated soon. I am an engineering student and currently in the second year. Well it is a four years course and still 2 and half years remaining. Here we have different problem that shifting. The political situation here in Nepal directly affects our study. Many times, it has happened that the examination schedule postpones. Due to this the four years course can last to four and half years. Politics in eduction field has greatly affected our study which is the very sad thing for us. I don't know, why those politicians don't understand our problem. Happy mylotting...

The same thing has happened to me. I was halfway through the Social Sciences program, when I decided to switch to nursing. So, only 12 out of my 40 credits accounted for anything. I am now about halfway through the nursing program. Good Luck to you!!!

I guess the real challenge begins after college graduation as I face the real world which is far more different than the student world.
